TextYourFriends

TextYourFriends lets you send text messages to other players in your lobby. Open the phone, go to Messages, and chat with friends in real time—just like texting NPCs, but with actual players.

What Changed?

Vanilla Behavior

  • The phone's Messages app only shows NPC conversations
  • No way to message other players in your lobby

With TextYourFriends

  • Player conversations appear alongside NPCs in the Messages app
  • Send and receive text messages with anyone in your Steam lobby
  • Conversation history persists across sessions and saves
  • Messages are delivered instantly via Steam P2P networking

Features

Player-to-Player Messaging

  • Each lobby member gets their own conversation thread
  • Type messages and see them appear in real time
  • Same UI as NPC messaging—seamlessly integrated into the phone

Persistent History

  • Conversations save automatically
  • Message history loads when you rejoin a lobby with the same players
  • Full integration with the game's save system via S1API

Session Init

  • P2P sessions are established automatically when you join a lobby
  • First messages arrive immediately—no need for the other player to send first

Installation

  1. Ensure you have MelonLoader installed for Schedule I
  2. Install dependencies: S1API, SteamNetworkLib (Mono)
  3. Install this mod via r2modman or place TextYourFriends_Mono.dll in your Mods/ folder
  4. Launch the game—the mod will automatically initialize

Requirements

  • Schedule I (ScheduleOne)
  • MelonLoader
  • S1API (for save system integration)
  • SteamNetworkLib Mono (for P2P messaging)

Notes

  • Mono build — Use this version if you play Schedule I with the Mono (development) build
  • You must be in a Steam lobby with other players to send or receive messages
  • Messages are private between you and the recipient—other lobby members cannot see them
