VRisingDLSS
Adds NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and DLAA (including the DLSS 4.5 models) with an in-game options section. Requires an RTX graphics card.VRisingDLSS
Adds NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and DLAA to V Rising, including the DLSS 4.5 models.
V Rising ships with HDRP's DLSS render path compiled in but without the NVIDIA module behind it. This mod switches that path on and connects it to DLSS through a small native bridge, so DLSS runs where the engine intended it to: with the game's own depth, motion vectors and camera jitter.
This is an unofficial mod. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by NVIDIA or Stunlock Studios.
Features
- DLAA - DLSS as anti-aliasing at native resolution.
- Upscaling modes - Quality, Balanced, Performance and Ultra Performance.
- Model selection - K (DLSS 4), L and M (DLSS 4.5), or Auto.
- In-game options - a DLSS section at the bottom of Options -> Graphics.
- Diagnostic overlay - current mode, resolutions, DLSS GPU time and a live log.
Requirements
- An NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card with a current driver.
- The game running on Direct3D 11 (the default).
- BepInExPack V Rising.
The mod is client-side only. On systems without an NVIDIA card it stays inactive and leaves the game untouched.
Installation
Mod manager: install through r2modman or the Thunderstore app; the BepInEx dependency is pulled in automatically.
Manual:
- Install BepInExPack V Rising and start the game once.
- Copy
VRisingDLSS.dll,VRisingDLSS.Native.dllandnvngx_dlss.dllintoBepInEx/plugins/VRisingDLSS/.
Usage
Open Options -> Graphics and scroll to the DLSS (mod) section:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| DLSS | Turns DLSS on or off. While it is on, the game's Anti-Aliasing and FSR options have no effect. |
| DLSS Mode | DLAA, Quality, Balanced, Performance or Ultra Performance. |
| DLSS Model | Auto, Default, J, K, L or M. |
| DLSS Overlay | Shows the diagnostic overlay. |
Hotkeys (all rebindable in the config file):
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| F10 | Toggle DLSS |
| F9 | Next mode |
| F8 | Toggle overlay |
| F5 | Next model (overlay visible) |
| F6 | Next injection point (overlay visible) |
Which model?
Auto uses K for DLAA, M for Quality / Balanced / Performance and L for Ultra Performance.
The DLSS 4.5 models (L, M) are noticeably heavier than K. Measured DLSS GPU time at 3440x1440 output on an RTX 5080:
| Mode | K | M | L |
|---|---|---|---|
| DLAA | 1.2 ms | 3.1 ms | 3.9 ms |
| Quality | 1.2 ms | 1.8 ms | - |
| Performance | 1.1 ms | 1.4 ms | - |
| Ultra Performance | - | - | 1.1 ms |
V Rising is a light game, so on a fast card DLSS upscaling mainly improves image quality rather than frame rate. The overlay shows the DLSS GPU time for your own setup.
Configuration
Settings live in BepInEx/config/kpajak.vrising.dlss.cfg. Besides the options above:
- InjectionPoint - where DLSS runs in post-processing. The default
AfterDepthOfFieldis recommended.BeforePostcauses rectangular dark patches in the upscaling modes. - AutoExposure - lets DLSS estimate exposure itself (default on).
- UseMipBias - sharper texture sampling when rendering below output resolution (default on).
Troubleshooting
- DLSS turns itself off - the mod falls back to the game's own anti-aliasing when DLSS cannot start. Check
BepInEx/LogOutput.logandBepInEx/VRisingDLSS.native.log; an outdated GPU driver is the usual cause. - Lower frame rate with DLAA - switch the model to K, or leave it on Auto.
- Artifacts - turn on the overlay (F8) and check the injection point; then compare with DLSS off (F10).
- After a game update - the mod hooks engine internals and may need an update. If the options section cannot be added, the mod keeps working through the hotkeys.
Tested with V Rising 1.1.13 on an RTX 5080 at 3440x1440. Frame Generation is not supported.
