FasterCastleMovement
Once you have Wolf Form, move as fast as a wolf on foot on your own and your clanmates' castle plots. Unclaimed plots, other players' castles and the open world are unchanged. Server only.FasterCastleMovement
Within your domain, the shadows carry you as swiftly as the wolf.
Once you have learned Wolf Form (from Alpha the White Wolf), you move as fast as a wolf on foot while you are on your own castle plot or a clanmate's. No more changing into a wolf just to cross your own castle, and no more laying carpet everywhere for speed: carpets are optional, but they still stack, so a carpeted corridor is faster still.
What changes
- On a castle plot you own, or one a clanmate owns, you get a Haste buff: +62.5% movement speed, the same as Wolf Form. It covers the whole plot, indoors and out, every floor.
- The buff comes off within a second when you leave the plot, and comes back when you return.
- On foot only: in Wolf Form, bat form or any other form, or riding a horse, the bonus is removed; it comes back when you are on foot again. Forms and horses keep their own speed.
- Wolf Form first: players who haven't unlocked Wolf Form yet get no bonus. It starts the next time they are on their plot after defeating Alpha the White Wolf. Players who unlocked it before the mod was installed count too.
- Unclaimed plots, other players' castles and the open world are unchanged.
The bonus shows on the buff bar as a Haste icon ("Increases movement speed."), without a timer.
Installing
Requires BepInExPack V Rising.
- Server: install FasterCastleMovement on the server. On a dedicated server, copy
FasterCastleMovement.dllintoBepInEx/plugins/while the server is stopped, then start it. - Players: nothing to install. The bonus comes from the server.
Settings
The config file BepInEx/config/FasterCastleMovement.cfg is created the first time the server starts with the mod.

Good to know
- Wolf Form sets your speed to 6.5; a vampire on foot without gear moves at 4.0. The bonus multiplies your speed with your gear's movement speed, so with speed gear you can be a little faster on your plot than as a wolf.
- Carpets: castle carpets give +15% movement speed in the base game, and they still stack with this mod. On a carpet the carpet bonus is added to your gear's movement speed and the mod's 62.5% multiplies the total. Example: a vampire with +8.2% speed gear walks at 4.33; on the plot 7.04; on a carpet on the plot 8.01 (about 16% faster than Wolf Form). With the mod you don't need carpets to move quickly through your castle; they're still a nice extra on long corridors, and still the only speed boost for visitors from outside your clan.
- To check it works, look in
BepInEx/LogOutput.logforspeed bonus 62.5% appliedwhen a player walks onto their plot. A player without Wolf Form showsWolf Form not unlocked yet, no speed bonus. - A game update can change the buff or form IDs the mod uses. If the log says
Prefab … should be …, the mod has turned itself off and needs an update. - To remove the mod, delete
FasterCastleMovement.dll(andFasterCastleMovement.cfg) and restart. A bonus saved with a character disappears at the next login.
Credits
- Project setup (BepInEx packages and NuGet feeds) modelled on ScarletBrazier by markvaaz.
- The "server has finished loading" hook (a Harmony postfix on
SpawnTeamSystem_OnPersistenceLoad) is a common pattern in V Rising mods, e.g. KindredCommands by odjit, ScarletCore and Bloodcraft by zfolmt. - Giving a buff and making it permanent (
DebugEventsSystem.ApplyBuff, thenLifeTime.EndAction = None), and removing it (DestroyUtilitywithTryRemoveBuff), follow the buff helpers in KindredCommands by odjit. - Replacing a vanilla buff's stat modifiers (
ModifyUnitStatBuff_DOTS) to make a custom buff is a technique used in mods such as Bloodcraft by zfolmt. - Built with BepInExPack V Rising (BepInEx, HarmonyX, Il2CppInterop).

This mod was made with Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding assistant. Claude worked out how the game handles castle plots, ownership and movement speed, and wrote the code and documentation; I decided what the mod should do, reviewed the changes, and tested each version in game on my own server.
Made for V Rising 1.1.15 with BepInEx 6 (BepInExPack V Rising 1.733.2).
