🌟 Aicho Better Bloom 🌟
- Aicho Better Bloom gives you full control over Valheim's bloom, the glow around fire, lights and other bright things. Make it tighter and cleaner, go back to vanilla, or build your own look: intensity, brightness threshold, halo size, lens dirt, a different look for day, night, rain, snow and caves, and the same look at any resolution. Everything can be changed live while you play.

🌅 The default look 🌅
The default values are my own settings: a tighter glow instead of vanilla's wide, soft haze. Only the brightest things glow, and the halo around them is small.
| Option | Vanilla | Aicho Better Bloom |
|---|---|---|
| Intensity | 0.30 | 0.40 |
| Threshold | 0.70 | 0.90 |
| Soft Knee | 0.70 | 0 |
| Radius | 5 | 1 |
| Anti-flicker | On | On |
| Lens dirt | 10.4 | 15 |

🎚️ Bloom settings 🎚️
- Mode: Game follows the Bloom switch of Valheim's graphics menu. ForceOn keeps bloom always on (even in the Very Low preset) and ForceOff keeps it always off.
- Intensity: how strong the glow is.
- Threshold: how bright something must be to glow. Higher means only the brightest things glow, with less haze over snow, sky or sand. You can write it in Gamma (the way Valheim stores it) or in Linear values.
- Soft Knee: how smooth the change is between "doesn't glow" and "glows". 0 is a sharp cut, 1 is very gradual.
- Radius (1 to 7): the size of the halo.
- Anti-flicker: Valheim's filter that stops the glow from flickering. It also dims very small lights, like sparks or distant fires. Turn it off if you want small lights to glow more (they may flicker).
🌫️ Lens dirt 🌫️
Valheim draws a dirty-lens texture that lights up with the bloom (vanilla multiplies it by 10.4, and its brightest spots can make the glow up to 8 times stronger).
- Intensity: how strong the smudges are. Set it to 0 to remove them completely.
- Custom texture: use your own PNG or JPG image instead of Valheim's. Write its path in the config (a full path, or relative to the plugin folder or to BepInEx/config). The image is stretched over the whole screen, so use a 16:9 or 2:1 image. It changes live when you edit the path.
📐 Same look at any resolution 📐
In vanilla, the higher the resolution, the more glow layers Valheim adds, so the bloom looks stronger in 4K than in 1080p (and it also changes with the render scale).
Turn on NormalizeGain and the intensity is adjusted automatically so the bloom looks the same at any resolution. ReferenceLevels sets the reference: 6 is what you get in 1080p and 1440p with Radius 5.
🌗 Day, night and weather 🌗
Valheim uses the same bloom all the time. With Modulation (off by default) you can give each situation its own look:
| Context | When it applies |
|---|---|
| Day / Night / Twilight | Mixed smoothly with Valheim's own time of day (dawn and dusk are Twilight) |
| Wet | When it rains |
| Freezing | In freezing weather and snow |
| Interior | Inside dungeons and caves |
Each context has three values: IntensityMultiplier (multiplies the intensity), ThresholdOffset (adds to the threshold) and LensDirtMultiplier (multiplies the lens dirt). Changes blend smoothly, and SmoothingSeconds sets how long they take.
For example: a stronger glow at night so lights stand out, and a slightly higher threshold during the day to reduce haze. The Day and Night values come filled in with my own settings, and they only apply when Modulation is turned on.
🔀 Turn it on, off, compare or reset 🔀
- Turn the whole mod off: the first section of the config file, 0. Mod, has Enabled. With it off, Valheim's bloom is exactly the original one.
- Compare in game: Right Alt + B switches between your settings and vanilla without touching the config file.
- See what is being used: Right Alt + N writes in the BepInEx log the real intensity, threshold, how many glow layers your resolution uses, and which contexts are active.
- Reset everything: changed too much and want to go back? Use ResetToDefaults, in the 0. Mod section. In a configuration manager it shows as a button (press it twice to confirm, so a stray click doesn't erase your settings). In the text file, set it to
trueand save: it applies by itself and goes back tofalse. Every option returns to the default values of this mod (my settings, the ones in the table above), including the keys and Enabled. Before resetting, a copy of your previous config is saved next to it as aicho.bloom.cfg.antes-de-restablecer.
🛡️ Safe with game updates 🛡️
The mod is built so a Valheim update doesn't break your game. If something it depends on changes, it turns itself off, leaves Valheim's original bloom as it was and explains it in the log. Parts that depend on other game systems (time of day, weather, caves) fail on their own without stopping the rest.
⚙️ Settings ⚙️
The file aicho.bloom.cfg (in BepInEx/config) is created automatically the first time you open the game. It has 37 options in 12 sections:
| Section | What you can change |
|---|---|
| 0. Mod | Turn the whole mod on or off, and reset every option to its default |
| General | Hotkeys, automatic reload of the file, transition time, debug log |
| Bloom | Mode, intensity, threshold, soft knee, radius, anti-flicker |
| Resolution | Same look at any resolution |
| LensDirt | Lens dirt intensity and custom texture |
| Modulation | Turn the day / night / weather adjustments on or off |
| Context.Day, Night, Twilight, Wet, Freezing, Interior | Intensity, threshold and lens dirt for each situation |
You can edit the config in game with a configuration manager (for example Configuration Manager), or with any text editor: if you save the file while the game is running, it reloads by itself.
📌 Notes 📌
- Client-side: only the player who uses it needs the mod. It changes how your own screen looks.
- It modifies Valheim's own bloom, so don't use it together with other mods that change the bloom or the post-processing values, or they will fight each other.
- Requires BepInExPack Valheim.
- The descriptions of the options inside the config file are written in Spanish.
⚡ I hope you enjoy it ⚡
🌟 Aicho Better Bloom 🌟

|---|---|---|
| Intensity (intensidad) | 0,30 | 0,40 |
| Threshold (umbral) | 0,70 | 0,90 |
| Soft Knee (suavidad) | 0,70 | 0 |
| Radius (radio) | 5 | 1 |
| Anti-flicker (anti-parpadeo) | Activado | Activado |
| Lens dirt (suciedad de lente) | 10,4 | 15 |
ScreenShot Comparativa

| Wet | Cuando llueve |
| Freezing | Con clima helado y nieve |
🔀 Activar, desactivar, comparar o restablecer 🔀
| Bloom | Modo, intensidad, umbral, suavidad, radio, anti-parpadeo |
