MuchBetterTames
Tames follow through portals and dungeons, teleport behind you, never die, regenerate, earn up to 2 stars and defend against wild packs. Blue health bars for followers, follower counter, server-synced, controller support, 14 languages.MuchBetterTames
Make your tamed animals actually useful. They follow you everywhere, don't die, level up with you, and no longer break your base.
Wolves, Lox, Boars... all your tames get smarter, tougher and much less annoying. Everything is configurable.
Features
🐺 Reliable following
- Follow / stay with a single press of E (or A / X on controller) on a tame.
- Group command: make all nearby tames follow or stay at once.
- Tames teleport to you when they fall behind or get stuck, and always appear behind you.
- They follow you through portals and into dungeons (Lox are excluded by default).
- They keep their distance, so they don't crowd or push you around.
- Boat support: tames are placed on the deck once instead of being teleported around.
- After you die and respawn, your followers come to you.
💤 Tames don't die
- On lethal damage a tame is knocked out instead of dying, then recovers on its own.
- Use a knocked-out tame for first aid to wake it up faster.
- Enemies ignore knocked-out tames.
- Optional: tames can only be killed with the Butcher Knife.
- Tames regenerate health, faster when fed.
⭐ Experience and stars
- Tames earn XP from kills and gain stars (up to 2).
- Nearby tames of the same owner share part of the XP.
🛡️ Smarter combat
- Tames only attack monsters that are alerted or have been attacked, not everything that merely looks their way.
- They defend you and each other against attacking wild animals, even of their own species (e.g. wolves).
- Animals that can't follow you in vanilla (e.g. Boars) keep their vanilla behavior, so taming still works.
- Tames never attack your buildings. No more wolves smashing your gate during a raid.
🖥️ Helpful HUD
- Shows how many tames are following you.
- A small label on the health bar shows who a tame follows or its knock-out timer.
- Health bars of followers are tinted in the owner's color (choose your own).
- Remaining taming time in the hover text.
- Hover text shows the key or button for the group command.
