QuickMachineFill
Fill smelters, blast furnaces and charcoal kilns completely with a single key press. Configurable shortcut and 12 tooltip languages.Quick Machine Fill
Fill a machine completely with one key press instead of interacting once per item.
Look at a smelter, blast furnace or charcoal kiln, press your configured shortcut, and the mod adds as many ore or coal items from your inventory as the machine can hold: no more, no less.
Features
- Fills ore and fuel in one action.
- Never overfills (no more "11 of 10" or "26 of 25").
- Fully configurable keyboard shortcut (with modifiers).
- Tooltip hint shown on the machine, so you always know which key is assigned.
- Tooltip available in 12 languages.
- Optional debug log for troubleshooting.
- Works with the game's
Smeltercomponent, so it should also apply to other machines that use it (for example windmill, spinning wheel and eitr refinery).
Installation
- Install BepInExPack Valheim.
- Copy
QuickMachineFill.dllintoBepInEx/plugins/. - Start the game once to generate the config file.
- Set your shortcut (see below).
Or install via a mod manager such as r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager.
Setup and usage
By default no key is assigned, so the mod does nothing until you set one. The tooltip will show "No key assigned" until then.
-
Close the game.
-
Open
BepInEx/config/com.ezat.quickmachinefill.cfg. -
Set
Keyboard Shortcutunder[Keyboard], for example:[Keyboard] Keyboard Shortcut = E + LeftShift -
Start the game, look at a machine, and press the shortcut while interacting.
Tip: The mod reacts to the shortcut being pressed at the moment you interact with the machine. Using your normal interact key (default E) as the main key together with a modifier (e.g. Shift) is the most reliable setup.

How it works
Valheim updates a machine's fill level only after the network message for the last item has been processed. Reading the level right after adding items can therefore return an outdated value, which leads to overfilling or to stopping too early.
Quick Machine Fill avoids this by:
- Tracking the expected fill level per machine for a short time (5 seconds) after a fill.
- Allowing at most one fill action per machine and type per frame.
- Hard-limiting the number of loop iterations.
- Stopping immediately when the game refuses an item (inventory empty or machine full).
Known limitations
- If a machine is already full according to the mod's own tracking, the game's usual "full" message is not shown. Nothing is added.
- In multiplayer, if two players fill the same machine at exactly the same time, an extra item can still slip in. The game does not check the limit when the network message is processed.
Troubleshooting
If the mod does not fill as expected:
- Set
Debug Log = truein the config. - Reproduce the problem.
- Open
BepInEx/LogOutput.logand look for lines starting with[Quick Machine Fill]. - Include those lines when reporting the issue.
