Adds a Mining skill that increases mining damage, ore yield and pickaxe lifetime.
- Gain Mining experience from successful pickaxe strikes against ore deposits.
- Level 50 by default: +15% mining damage, approximately +12.5% ore and 15% more pickaxe uses.
- Level 100 by default: +30% mining damage, approximately +25% ore and 30% more pickaxe uses.
- Bonuses increase gradually. Your level saves with your character.
- Extra ore is rolled per dropped item, so individual deposits vary. Ordinary stone and loot from containers are not multiplied.
- Pickaxe lifetime improves through reduced wear per melee attack. It does not repair the tool or change its maximum health. Other weapon types are unaffected.
- Includes a custom pickaxe-and-rock skill icon.
Four server-synchronized settings, adjustable separately:

Maximum bonuses apply at level 100. Set a bonus to 0 to disable it. At the default maximum durability bonus, each attack uses approximately 23.1% less durability, giving 30% more uses. Configure through a compatible configuration manager or BepInEx/config/branchofyore.miningprogression.cfg on the server. Existing installations keep their saved settings; set damage and durability bonuses to 30 to use the new defaults. Normal death penalties apply.
Works with copper, tin, iron scrap, silver, flametal, obsidian and chitin deposits. The required pickaxe tier still applies. The damage bonus only affects ore mining, not combat or buildings.
Installation
Requires BepInExPack Valheim and Jotunn on the server and every player. Import the ZIP as a local mod, or copy plugins/MiningProgression/MiningProgression.dll to BepInEx/plugins/MiningProgression/.
This is a standalone mod. It does not require Smoothbrain Mining and must not be enabled alongside that mod; both provide a Mining skill and bonuses. No existing character skill is migrated from Smoothbrain Mining.
Compatible with Vein Mining 0.3.4 (optional).
Early test release for Valheim 1.0.16. Separate-client multiplayer testing is pending. See TESTING.md for verification details.
