Viking Quality of Life

Viking Quality of Life (ccorp) is a small all-in-one mod designed to improve your Valheim experience without requiring a large collection of dependencies. Simply install this mod alongside BepInEx.

It is ideal for playing on servers with friends. Multiple quality-of-life improvements are combined into a single package, reducing the number of installed mods and helping prevent incompatibilities and conflicts.

Is there a feature you would like to see? Please share your feedback and suggestions. New ideas are always welcome and help make the mod more useful for everyone.

Features

  • Reduced item weight
    • Items weigh half as much by default, allowing you to carry more resources without removing inventory management completely.
    • The weight multiplier is configurable and can also be set to zero for weightless items.
  • Larger item stacks
    • Stackable items can be stored in stacks up to 10 times larger than their original size by default.
    • Items that are not normally stackable remain limited to one item per slot.
  • Extended automatic pickup range
    • Loose items are attracted and pulled toward your character from twice the normal distance by default.
  • Expanded player inventory
    • Adds two extra inventory rows by default, providing more room for equipment, food, tools, and collected resources.
    • The number of extra rows can be configured from zero to five, for a maximum of nine total rows.
  • Persistent favorite items
    • Hover an item in the player inventory and press F to toggle it as a favorite.
    • Favorited items display a gold star in the upper-right corner of their inventory slot, remain favorited after moving or logging out, and are protected from quick stacking.
    • Resource stacks, food, ammunition, and other non-equippable inventory items can be favorited.
    • Equippable items cannot be favorited because quick stack already protects every weapon, armor piece, cape, shield, bow, tool, and utility item automatically.
  • Quick stack to nearby chests
    • Press the period key (.) to send eligible inventory items to compatible chests within 25 meters by default.
    • An item is moved only to a chest that already contains the same item type; chests without that item are ignored.
    • The entire first inventory row, favorited items, and every equippable item always remain with the player, whether currently equipped or not.
    • Weapons, armor, capes, shields, bows, tools, utility equipment, and other items classified as equippable are never sent by quick stack.
    • Full chests are skipped, partial stacks can continue into another compatible chest, and any remainder stays in the player inventory.
    • Chests outside the configured radius, currently in use, or unavailable because of ownership or ward permissions are ignored.
    • Each chest that receives items can display the red vfx_Potion_health_medium effect to make the destination easy to identify.
    • A centered message confirms whether items were sent or no compatible chest space was available.
  • Craft and build from nearby chests
    • Building pieces and every crafting station can use resources stored in eligible chests within 25 meters by default.
    • Recipe and building-piece availability includes both the player's inventory and nearby chest contents, as if those resources were being carried.
    • Requirement counters display (inventory/nearby chests) / cost, for example (10/20) / 5, using a slightly smaller auto-fitting font.
    • Counters are white when the inventory alone covers the cost, steady yellow when nearby chests are needed, and flash red when the combined total is insufficient.
    • Resources in the player's inventory are always consumed first; only the missing amount is taken from nearby chests, starting with the closest chest.
    • Works with building hammers, workbenches, forges, cauldrons, artisan stations, item upgrades, and compatible recipes added by other mods.
    • Chests in use, outside the configured radius, or blocked by ownership or ward permissions are ignored.
  • More resources from gathering and combat
    • Multiplies generated resource yields by three by default.
    • Applies to gathered world resources, harvested crops and seeds, felled trees, mined deposits, and creature loot.
    • Combines with the world's resource-rate modifier while respecting special items that Valheim marks as non-scalable.
    • Items manually dropped by a player are never multiplied, preventing inventory-item duplication.
  • Persistent Rested buff
    • Preserves the remaining Rested-buff duration when a character disconnects and reconnects to the same world.
    • Offline time continues to count down, so logging out cannot freeze or extend the buff.
    • Expired buffs are not restored, and saved durations are isolated per character and world.
  • Server-authorized item spawning
    • Players listed in the server's adminlist.txt can use spawn <prefab> <amount> in the console while connected to multiplayer.
    • The server validates the command sender itself and spawns the requested item in front of that administrator's character.
    • Large quantities are divided into valid item stacks, invalid prefab names are rejected, and denied or successful attempts are recorded in the server log.
    • Example: spawn Wood 100 creates 100 wood in front of the requesting administrator.
  • Increased carrying capacity
    • Raises the player's base carrying capacity to 750 by default.
  • Four food slots
    • Allows the player to consume four different foods at the same time instead of the original three.
    • The fourth food includes its own status icon and remaining-duration display.
  • Longer food duration
    • Food effects last 50% longer by default, reducing how frequently food must be consumed.
  • Full food bonuses until expiration
    • Food health and stamina bonuses remain at their maximum values until the food expires instead of gradually decreasing over time.
  • Faster skill progression
    • Skill experience is multiplied by three by default, reducing repetitive training while preserving normal skill progression.
  • Faster sailing and rowing
    • Doubles rowing and sailing propulsion by default, making sea travel faster without changing ship storage or durability.
  • Larger map exploration radius
    • Reveals twice the normal map area while exploring on land.
    • Reveals three times the normal map area while aboard a boat, including when traveling as a passenger.
  • Portal destination map
    • Displays every available portal as a fixed red teleport icon on the world map for online players using the mod.
    • Physically entering a portal opens the map, allowing the player to click a portal icon and select that destination.
    • Portal icons cannot be used to teleport from arbitrary locations; a destination can only be selected after entering a portal.
    • Map-based portals display the normal connected glow and proximity activation effect whenever another destination is available.
    • Portal markers are refreshed automatically after disconnecting and reconnecting, and missing markers are recreated without rebuilding a portal.
  • Optional portal travel with restricted items
    • Adds a server-controlled option that allows portals to transport ores, metals, and other items that Valheim normally prevents from being teleported.
    • The option is disabled by default, preserving the original item restriction unless the server owner explicitly enables it.
  • Shorter boss-power cooldown
    • Reduces the boss-power cooldown from 20 minutes to 10 minutes by default.
    • The active boss-power buff still lasts the original five minutes.
  • Wider comfort and heat range
    • Multiplies the range of comfort and heat sources by 10 by default, making nearby furniture and fires easier to benefit from.
  • Faster bow arrows
    • Doubles the projectile speed of arrows fired from bows by default.
    • Crossbows and unrelated projectiles are not modified.
  • Larger building-station range
    • Triples the usable range of building stations by default, allowing construction farther from a workbench or similar station.
  • Area repair with the hammer
    • Repairing one structure also repairs eligible structures within three meters by default.
    • Nearby repairs respect ward access and building permissions and consume no additional stamina or hammer durability.
    • The radius can be set to zero to restore the original one-piece-at-a-time behavior.
  • Expanded wooden chest
    • Expands the basic wooden chest to an 8-by-4 inventory, matching the storage layout size of a black metal chest.
  • Larger processing-machine capacity
    • Doubles the input and fuel capacity of supported processing machines by default.
  • Shift-fill processing machines
    • Holding Shift while adding fuel or materials continues filling the machine until it is full or the items run out.
  • Area crop harvesting
    • Holding Shift while harvesting a mature crop also harvests other mature crops within three meters by default.
    • The feature respects ward access, ignores crops that are not ready, and can be disabled by setting its radius to zero.
  • Instant monster drops
    • Monster ragdolls disappear immediately after death instead of remaining on the ground.
    • Valheim's original ragdoll removal produces the death smoke and releases the loot together, preserving their intended visual timing.
    • This feature is enabled by default and can be disabled to restore Valheim's original delayed-drop behavior.
  • Multiplayer network tuning
    • Uses an 80 KB outgoing queue and a 100% object-update rate by default for maximum network throughput and responsiveness.
    • Supports both Steam and PlayFab connections and automatically avoids applying duplicate network patches when a compatible external optimizer is detected.
    • Network compression is intentionally not included, keeping the package protocol-safe and dependent only on BepInEx.
  • Matching ccorp version validation
    • When a multiplayer server also runs ccorp, clients must use the same ccorp version by default to prevent gameplay differences caused by outdated installations.
    • The validation checks only this mod. It does not inspect, require, or block unrelated client mods.
    • Website registration and account validation are not part of the public mod; those are private systems used only by CatiniCorp servers.
  • Server-authoritative configuration
    • In multiplayer, every ccorp gameplay setting is synchronized from the server to connected clients.
    • Server values are locked for the duration of the connection, preventing clients from gaining an advantage through different local settings.
    • The player's original local configuration is not overwritten and is restored after leaving the server.

Installation

Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman

  1. Select the Valheim community and the profile you want to use.
  2. Search for ccorp and choose Download or Install with dependencies.
  3. Start Valheim with mods from the manager.

BepInExPack_Valheim is declared as a dependency and is installed automatically by the manager. Do not install another copy of BepInEx inside the ccorp package.

Configuration

After the first launch, BepInEx creates:

BepInEx/config/com.modvalheim.ccorp.cfg

Close the game before editing the file. Available settings include:

  • General.WeightMultiplier: item-weight multiplier (default 0.5).
  • Food.DurationMultiplier: food-duration multiplier (default 1.5).
  • Exploration.LandRadiusMultiplier: map exploration-radius multiplier outside boats (default 2).
  • Exploration.SailingRadiusMultiplier: map exploration-radius multiplier while aboard a boat, including passengers (default 3).
  • Inventory.ExtraRows: extra player inventory rows, from 0 to 5 (default 2).
  • Inventory.QuickStackEnabled: enables quick stacking to nearby compatible chests with the period key (.) (default true).
  • Inventory.QuickStackRadius: radius in meters used to locate compatible chests (default 25).
  • Inventory.QuickStackChestEffect: displays the red health-potion effect on every chest that receives quick-stacked items (default true).

  • Crafting.NearbyChestRadius: radius in meters used to locate resource chests for building and every crafting station (default 25).
  • Player.MaxCarryWeight: base carry capacity (default 750).
  • BossPowers.CooldownMinutes: boss-power cooldown in minutes (default 10). Buff duration remains unchanged at its original value.
  • Skills.ExperienceMultiplier: skill experience multiplier (default 3).
  • Sailing.SpeedMultiplier: rowing and sailing propulsion multiplier (default 2).
  • Items.StackSizeMultiplier: stack-size multiplier (default 10).
  • Items.AutoPickupRangeMultiplier: multiplier for the distance at which loose items are pulled toward the player (default 2).
  • Farming.ShiftHarvestRadius: hold Shift while harvesting a mature crop to harvest other mature crops within this radius in meters (default 3; use 0 to disable).
  • Loot.InstantMonsterDrops: immediately removes monster ragdolls so the original death smoke and loot happen together without the normal corpse delay (default true).
  • Loot.ResourceDropMultiplier: multiplier for resources from gathering, crops, trees, mining, and creatures (default 3; range 1 to 10).
  • Rested.PersistAcrossLogout: preserves the Rested buff across reconnects while continuing to count down in real time (default true).
  • Portals.MapPins: displays fixed portal markers and opens the map for destination selection when the player physically enters a portal (default true). Portal markers cannot teleport the player at other times.
  • Portals.AllowRestrictedItems: allows portal travel while carrying ores, metals, and other normally restricted items (default false).
  • Comfort.RadiusMultiplier: heat and comfort range multiplier (default 10).
  • Combat.ArrowSpeedMultiplier: bow-arrow speed multiplier (default 2).
  • Building.StationRadiusMultiplier: building-station range multiplier (default 2.5, approximately 25 meters for a station with a 10-meter base range).
  • Building.RepairRadius: repairs nearby structures within this many meters when using the hammer (default 3; use 0 for vanilla single-piece repair).
  • Processing.InputCapacityMultiplier: processing-machine capacity multiplier (default 2).
  • Processing.ShiftFill: hold Shift while adding input to fill a machine (default true).
  • Compatibility.RequireMatchingVersion: when the server also runs ccorp, requires clients to use the same ccorp version (default true). It does not inspect or block other installed mods.
  • Networking.Enabled: enables safe network queue and object-update tuning (default true).
  • Networking.QueueSizeKilobytes: outgoing queue target from 10 to 80 KB (default 80). Higher values require more upload bandwidth.
  • Networking.UpdateRatePercent: object update frequency at 100%, 75%, or 50% (default 100, equivalent to 20 updates per second).

For the best result, use the same networking configuration on the server and every client. Compatible external network optimizers are detected automatically to prevent duplicate patches. Network compression is intentionally not included.

In multiplayer, the server automatically synchronizes and locks all ccorp settings on connected clients. Local client values are temporarily replaced in memory while connected and restored after disconnecting; the client's configuration file is not permanently overwritten.

Client and server compatibility

Install the same ccorp version on every client. Install it on dedicated servers as well when using portal map pins, so the server can provide the complete portal list to every online player. Other gameplay changes are applied by the plugin on the game instance where it is installed; matching client/server installations are recommended for a consistent experience.

Map-based portals use the normal connected glow and proximity activation effect whenever another destination portal is available, even though they are not paired through vanilla portal tags.

Players can use the public mod in singleplayer and on compatible servers without creating an account or matching a private allowlist. When a server also runs ccorp, only the ccorp version is checked by default; unrelated client mods remain allowed.

Website account validation is not included in the public Thunderstore package and should never be configured by public users. CatiniCorp servers use a separate, privately managed server-only plugin for that purpose.

Reporting problems

Report problems through the contact/support channel at valheim.catini.org. Include the ccorp version, Valheim version, mod-manager profile, a list of other installed mods, and the relevant BepInEx log excerpt. Never publish passwords, tokens, or other secrets.
