Steam friends in the pause menu and a party at the main menu's campfire: invite friends, join their games, chat with them, emotes. Client only, all game languages.Changelog
0.8.2
Everything since 0.1.3, in short.
Party at the campfire (main menu)
- Create a party on the character screen: a friends-only Steam lobby for up to 10 players.
- Your friends sit around the fire in their own look (body, hair, beard, colours, gear) with their name and Ready above.
- Call a friend: the mod's own friends window with avatars, status, search and an Invite button for each.
- Invites inside the game: the game's own window with Accept / Decline and a chime, in the main menu and in a world.
- Party chat (Enter or Send), Ready for each member, "Waiting for: ..." / "Everyone is ready", the host is asked before starting without everyone.
- The game's emotes for your figure at the fire, seen by the whole party; the menu camera steps back to show the whole ring.
- The host presses Start and picks the world on the game's own world screen; Start server stays on, the password goes to the members, and the members who are ready join by themselves.
- Clear roles ("You are the host" / "You are in <name>'s party"); if the host leaves, the party ends for everyone with a message.
- Compact layout: the party at the left, the characters at the top right, the chat at the bottom right. The game's bottom bar is hidden in a party; Manage saves is in the characters' list.
Characters at the right
- When you go to a friend, a compact scrolling list of your characters: a 3D picture of each, the name, cloud or local, one click to switch, New character.
- With AdminMenu, a character bound to another world gets a red !.
Steam friends tab
- What friends play: the game's name from the Steam store (cached); in Valheim the server or world when known.
- Join a friend's Valheim game in one click (password servers too). A card shows only the buttons that work right now and they fit the window.
- Write: chat with a friend inside the game (Steam messages in and out, also in the game's chat with
/fand/r). - A line at the top left when a friend comes online or starts Valheim (tick).
- "Show friends my world and server" tick (off by default): friends with the mod can join you, Steam's own Join game works too.
Steam
- Everyone you meet in a world appears in Steam's Recently played with; friends playing together are grouped in the Steam friends list.
- The game's player list shows a Steam player's own avatar when the game has only the default picture.
Other
- With Auga and ChistixCompat the windows take Auga's look; the windows use the game's framed wood panel.
[Screenshots] MadeUpNames: friends' names are replaced with made-up ones (avatars stay) for screenshots and streams.[Screenshots] DemoParty: 1-5 stand-in friends at the fire and in the friends tab, for screenshots and videos without a friend at hand (nothing is sent to anyone).- The main menu's windows follow a language changed in the game's Settings at once; the settings file is described in English. No more font warnings in the log. Lighter on the game: no Steam calls every frame in a party, almost nothing to do in a world or on the loading screen.
- New settings:
GameNames,[Notify] FriendsOnline,[Chat] InGame,[Privacy] ShareWorld,[Menu] CharacterList,[Screenshots] MadeUpNames,[Screenshots] DemoParty.
0.1.3
- On quit, the mod hands its Steam callbacks back before the game shuts Steam down (SteamAPI.Shutdown), so nothing of it stays registered at that moment.
0.1.2
- New plugin GUID
chistix.steamfriends(waslocal.valheim.steamfriends); the old settings file carries over by itself. - License: all rights reserved (see LICENSE).
0.1.1
- All 35 languages of the game (Abenaki shows English), following the game's language, also when it is changed in Settings.
- The pause menu's "Player list" button and the window's title read "Players & invites".
0.1.0
- First version: "Players" / "Steam friends" tabs in the pause menu's player list, built from the game's own UI pieces.
- Friends with avatar, name and status, sorted, with search; updated from Steam's events.
- Invite: the host into the Steam lobby the game makes for an open world (Steam and crossplay); a client into the host's lobby through Steam; a dedicated server by address. Disabled with a reason when not possible.
- Join a friend's open game; Steam's invite window; the friend's profile on a click.
- Accepts invites sent with InviteUserToGame while the game runs (the plain game ignores them).
