FrelsiBuildCameraCompat
Client-side compatibility bridge that lets BuildCameraCHE 1.3.3 enter and remain in detached camera mode when Frelsi Hammer allows station-less building.Frelsi Hammer BuildCamera Compat
Client-side compatibility bridge for:
- BuildCameraCHE 1.3.3 (
Azumatt.BuildCameraCHE) - Frelsi Hammer 1.0.1 (
com.zeecamelsnake.frelsihammer) - Valheim 1.0.x / BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350
Problem
Frelsi Hammer deliberately allows building away from a physical Workbench, Forge, Stonecutter, Black Forge, Galdr Table, Artisan Table, etc. once the character has unlocked the corresponding station.
BuildCameraCHE 1.3.3 has a separate camera-side requirement: its detached
camera refuses to start unless it can find a real CraftingStation, and it
turns camera mode off when that station reference is null.
That means Frelsi can correctly allow a piece to be built while BuildCamera still refuses to enter free camera mode.
What this compat changes
The compat patches BuildCameraCHE only. It does not patch Frelsi Hammer and does not reimplement Frelsi progression.
When BuildCameraCHE finds a real station, behavior is unchanged.
When no station is in BuildCamera's range:
- BuildCamera's internal station lookup is allowed to succeed with a null station so camera mode can start.
- The camera gets a virtual fixed anchor at the camera position at the moment build mode is entered.
- BuildCamera's existing Distance Can Build From Workbench multiplied by Camera Range Multiplier is used as the station-less camera movement radius around that anchor.
- The original BuildCamera terrain collision, input handling, pickup logic, comfort restrictions, placement distance, FirstPersonMode ordering, and camera behavior remain intact.
- Actual piece placement permission is left to Valheim and Frelsi Hammer. This compat does not unlock stations or pieces by itself.
Safety / version behavior
This build intentionally targets BuildCameraCHE 1.3.3 exactly.
If another BuildCameraCHE version is detected, the compat logs an error and refuses to patch it instead of guessing against changed private internals.
Frelsi Hammer is only a runtime dependency. The compat never calls into its private code or modifies its DLL.
Multiplayer
This is a client-side camera compatibility plugin. It adds no prefabs, items, RPCs, or save data.
Install it on each client that uses both Frelsi Hammer and BuildCameraCHE.
Expected test
- Start with Frelsi Hammer and BuildCameraCHE enabled.
- Go somewhere with no physical crafting station in BuildCamera range.
- Equip the hammer and press BuildCamera's normal toggle key (
Bby default). - The detached camera should open and move normally.
- Building something whose station your character has unlocked through Frelsi should work.
- A Frelsi-locked piece should remain unavailable/rejected; this compat must not grant progression.
- Repeat near a real station: BuildCamera should behave exactly as before.
