Valheim, but harder. Richer. Deadlier.
โ ๏ธ Alpha Version โ Work in Progress
DeatHeim is currently in early alpha and is neither fully configured nor feature-complete. The modpack is under active development โ mods may be added, removed, or reconfigured at any time without notice. A stable, polished release is on the way. If you want to jump in now anyway: welcome to hell aka DeatHeim.
DeatHeim is a hardcore modpack for Valheim that expands and reworks the game. Vanilla Valheim is an amazing game!
But DeatHeim asks: wanna suffer like in Dark Souls?
This modpack goes deep:
DeatHeim is not a quality-of-life pack โ it is a total expansion. Expect significantly more complexity, more danger, and a Valheim experience that feels meaningfully different from the base game.
DeatHeim comes in four versions โ each built for a different role. Understanding the difference is important, because the modpack is designed around a core philosophy: fair play on a dedicated server, enforced at the server level, fully configured and ready to go.
That means no cheating, no unauthorized mods, no carrying over leveled characters or items from other worlds. The server controls what's allowed โ and the version split exists to make that system as easy as possible to set up and use.
This is the heart of the whole setup. The server version contains the anti-cheat system, character storage, and all server-side mod logic โ pre-configured and ready to go. Installing it is intentionally simple: copy three folders onto your server, and you're done. No fiddling with configs, no manual setup. Everything is already tuned.
Once it's running, the server automatically enforces which mods players can and cannot use. Players trying to connect with unauthorized mods will be blocked. Characters are stored server-side, so nobody can show up with items or progress from another world.
You need this version if you run or rent a dedicated Valheim server and want to set up DeatHeim for your friends.
This is the standard client version โ the one most players should use. It contains every mod that the server permits, fully pre-configured to connect to a DeatHeim server. The full UI, all visual enhancements, the complete experience.
All mods included here are either whitelisted (required) or greylisted (optional but allowed) by the server's anti-cheat. You won't get blocked. You won't be missing anything. This is the intended way to play DeatHeim.
You need this version if you're joining a DeatHeim dedicated server and want the full experience.
Some players prefer to keep things as close to vanilla as possible and only install what's strictly necessary to connect. DeatHeimCore is for them. It contains only the mods the server actually requires โ nothing optional, no UI overhauls, no extras. Lightweight, fast, and gets you into the game.
The gameplay experience will be more bare-bones, but you'll still be able to connect and play on any DeatHeim server without issues.
You need this version if you're joining a DeatHeim dedicated server but want the least amount of mods possible.
Want to experience DeatHeim without setting up a server? This version is for you. DeatHeimSolo includes the full content experience โ all the creatures, weapons, systems, and world expansions โ but without the server infrastructure (no anti-cheat, no ServerCharacters, no server-side enforcement).
You can play completely solo, or invite friends directly via Valheim's built-in peer-to-peer connection โ no dedicated server required. Just launch, create a world, and share your invite code.
You need this version if you want to play DeatHeim solo, or with friends via direct connection without a dedicated server.
Still not sure? If someone sent you a server IP to join, download DeatHeim. If you want to start your own game with friends right now, download DeatHeimSolo.
The server version is designed to be as simple as possible to deploy. Three folders, one copy-paste, done.
Settings โ All โ Browse Profile FolderBepInEx.
(Optional: open config and adjust server settings to your liking before deploying.)config, patcher and plugins folders into your server's BepInEx folder.save โ worlds_local โ if any world files are present, delete them.
โ ๏ธ This removes any existing world on that path. Back up anything important first. That's it. The server now enforces which mods are allowed, handles all character storage, and syncs most settings automatically to every connecting client. You don't need to configure anything on the player side โ the server takes care of it.
The full experience for players joining a DeatHeim dedicated server. Every permitted mod is included and pre-configured.
Settings โ All โ Browse Profile FolderBepInEx โ config.Azumatt.FastLink_servers.yml) and enter your server details:
server name, password, IP address, and port.Note: Every mod in this version is whitelisted or greylisted by the server's anti-cheat. Don't add mods outside this list โ they will trigger the anti-cheat and prevent you from connecting.
Just the essentials. For players who want to keep things lightweight and only install what the server strictly requires to connect.
Note: This version only includes mods the server enforces. All optional mods โ UI overhauls, visual enhancements, quality-of-life additions โ are not included. If you want the full experience, use DeatHeim instead.
The full DeatHeim content experience without any server infrastructure. Play solo or invite friends directly via Valheim's built-in peer-to-peer connection.
Note: This version does not include server infrastructure mods (anti-cheat, ServerCharacters, etc.). Characters and worlds are stored locally, as in vanilla Valheim. Saves from this version are not compatible with a dedicated DeatHeim server running ServerCharacters.
The easiest way to make sure everyone has the exact same setup โ mods, configs, and all:
SettingsProfileExport Profile as CodeImport Profile โ done โ๏ธThis exports the entire profile including config files, so everyone starts with identical settings. No manual syncing required.
The backbone of DeatHeim is a set of carefully chosen systems that work together to create a stable, fair, and immersive experience โ both in singleplayer and on a server. Click any category below to learn more.
DeatHeim uses the AzuAntiCheat system by Azumatt to ensure a fair and consistent multiplayer experience for everyone on the server.
This means no one can sneak in mods that give unfair advantages โ no infinite resources, no god mode, no hidden item duplication. What you see is what everyone plays with.
Not sure which mods are allowed? Everything permitted is already included in the Full Client. If you stick to that, you're good.
DeatHeim ships with BreakoutVOIP โ a full in-game voice chat system built directly into Valheim, no external software required.
Of course you can still use Discord on top of it โ but for quick in-game callouts, coordinating raids, or just chatting while sailing, BreakoutVOIP has you covered without alt-tabbing.
DeatHeim uses ServerCharacters by Smoothbrain to tie your character to the server rather than your local machine.
On top of that, the EpicMMO System adds a full RPG progression layer:
The base game's enemy variety gets a massive overhaul through the complete Therzie suite:
On top of that, CreatureLevelAndLootControl (CLLC) scales every enemy dynamically โ the longer a world runs, the more dangerous it becomes. Elite stars, infused creatures, and custom loot tables keep combat challenging at every stage of progression.
Jewelcrafting by Smoothbrain adds a deep socketing and gem system to the game:
This system adds a meaningful layer of character customization on top of Valheim's existing gear progression without replacing it.
DeatHeim makes the world feel bigger, more alive, and more rewarding to explore:
DeatHeim extends Valheim's seafaring with a full suite of ship mods:
Building in DeatHeim is smoother and more capable than vanilla:
Playing with others in DeatHeim is built around a set of dedicated multiplayer systems:
