About the Modpack

The Viking's Journey is a relaxed and beginner-friendly modpack for Valheim. It offers a wide range of quality-of-life improvements that make exploration, building, and progression more comfortable and immersive — without unnecessary complexity.

The modpack intentionally leaves the base game largely untouched. The world, progression, combat, and crafting all feel exactly as the developers intended. The only notable gameplay addition is a craftable backpack, which provides a bit of extra carrying capacity without disrupting the game's natural balance.

Version Overview

The modpack is available in three versions designed to work together:

Version	Purpose
Server Version (you are here)	Sets up a dedicated server. Pre-configured and ready to go right out of the box.
Minimum Version	Lightweight client containing only the essential mods required to join a server. Perfect for players who just want to jump in.
Maximum Version	Full client experience with every mod permitted by the server's anti-cheat system. Offers the complete quality-of-life experience.

Anti-Cheat & Easy Setup

A key focus of this modpack is accessibility — especially when playing with friends on a server. The Viking's Journey comes with a fully pre-configured anti-cheat system (developed by the legendary modder Azumatt), ensuring a fair and consistent experience for everyone right out of the box, with no complicated setup or manual configuration required.

Installation (Server Version)

Download the modpack via r2modman or the Thunderstore Mod Manager.
Launch Valheim once with the modpack active so all files are generated.
Open the profile folder: Settings → All → Browse Profile Folder
Navigate into the BepInEx folder.
Copy the plugins and config folders from the profile folder.
Paste them into the BepInEx folder on your server.
Restart the server.

Required Configuration After Installation

Some settings are server-specific and cannot be pre-configured. They can be found under BepInEx → config.

Azu Anti-Cheat Discord Webhook (Azumatt.AzuAntiCheat_Webhook.yml)
Remove the # symbol in front of example server and hook.
Replace the example Discord webhook URL with your own.

Installation (Minimum Version)

Download the modpack via r2modman or the Thunderstore Mod Manager.
Launch Valheim once with the modpack active.
No further configuration required — just enter the IP adress and password, in Valheim and connect to the server.

Note: The Minimum Version only contains the whitelisted (required) mods required to join the server. Any of the optional mods from the Maximum Version can be installed on top at any time — all of them, or just the ones you want.

Installation (Maximum Version)

Download the modpack via r2modman or the Thunderstore Mod Manager.
Launch Valheim once with the modpack active.
Open the profile folder: Settings → All → Browse Profile Folder
Navigate to BepInEx → config.
Edit the Fastlink file (Azumatt.FastLink_servers.yml):
- Enter your server name, password, IP address, and port.

Note: The greylisted (optional) mods can be freely installed, configured, or removed to your liking. The whitelisted (required) mods must remain installed. The server checks that clients only use mods from the whitelist or greylist.

A Note on Server-Side Configuration

Almost all mod settings can be configured on the server and will automatically apply to all connected clients. You generally only need to configure things once — on the server. The only exception is mods that do not have server-side settings; those need to be adjusted by each player individually on their own client or configured by the server admin and then shared via profile code.

Sharing the Modpack with Friends

Players can set up their Fastlink file themselves, or the server admin can do it for them. If you want your friends to get the correct settings without any manual setup, simply export your configured profile as a code and share it — they will have everything ready to go instantly:

Click Settings.
Click Profile.
Click Export Profile as Code.
Share the code with your friends.
