EpicShips 0.1.1

By FalseHarmony. A separate integration between PortableShips and Epic Loot: enchant a packed ship at the enchanting table, slot shardstones, and deploy a magical ship.

Experimental release — 0.1.1. Requires PortableShips 0.12.0, the inspected Epic Loot 0.14.13, and their normal BepInEx/Jötunn/Json.NET dependencies. Every client and the host/dedicated server must install both matching mod versions and restart. PortableShips alone remains independent of Epic Loot.

New in 0.1.1: Crew's Covenant makes the hull immune to hits attributed to players, regardless of PvP settings. It rolls with normal weight, supports ordinary ship runestones, and excludes Oden's Chosen. Enemy/environmental damage and passengers retain normal behavior. Hits without an identifiable player attacker are not blocked.

How to use

  1. Pack a Karve, Longship or Drakkar normally, with Skíðblaðnir's Boon installed. Command-spawned blank ship items can also be prepared from your own inventory, without receiving free ship upgrades.
  2. Bring the packed ship to Epic Loot's enchanting table. It appears in the Enchant list and uses that rarity's configured Tool enchanting recipe. If no Tool recipe exists, the fallback is one Runestone, five Dust and five Essence of the chosen rarity. Epic Loot's table progression, rarity unlocks, effect-count rolls and socket-count rolls remain in use.
  3. Enchant, then use Epic Loot's normal socket interface on the packed item (E while hovering it in your inventory, subject to your Epic Loot controls) to insert shardstones or supported ship-effect runestones. One of each shard color is permitted; Epic Loot's category limits and removal rules still apply. A ship with zero sockets needs Epic Loot's normal socket progression/chisels before stones can be inserted.
  4. Put the ship item on your hotbar and summon it normally. Its effects apply to the deployed ship, not the player carrying the packed item. Animal capsules remain excluded.
  5. Shrink the ship again to bring it back to the table. Rarity, rolled values, sockets, source gems and cooldowns are retained. Normal cargo rules still apply: cargo drops at the old location.

Augmenting uses the server's Tool augment recipe and native re-augment surcharge. Rune extraction/etching use configured Tool rune recipes. Ordinary weapon/armor legendary templates cannot be selected for ships. Sacrificing a packed ship is blocked so the boat cannot accidentally be destroyed for dust.

Enchantments

The normal ship pool includes Stout Hull, Ironbound, Emberward, Wavebreaker, Fair Winds, Tireless Oars, Nimble Keel, Steady Keel, Mender's Blessing, Sheltering Voyage, Mistwatch, Njörðr's Favor, Quickening Runes and the three Voyager variants. See EFFECTS.md for exact ranges.

Njorn's Chosen always gives that ship full tailwind propulsion, without changing global wind. It is Legendary or above, selection weight 1 against ordinary effects at 100. The weather arrow/sail visuals can still reflect the real weather; propulsion is ship-local.

Oden's Chosen makes the deployed hull indestructible, including enemy damage, impacts, fire and boiling Ashlands waters. It does not protect passengers. It is Legendary or above, selection weight 0.1, excludes redundant magical hull defenses, does not repair existing damage and still permits deliberate packing. Both Chosen effects cannot be extracted into runestones or inserted via runestones. Relative weights are not percentage probabilities.

HP enchantments add a percentage of vanilla hull HP, after reinforcement/optional Longship Upgrades calculations. A fully reinforced Longship with default Hull 2 has 5,000 HP before magic; a 30% Stout Hull adds 300, giving 5,300. Changes preserve hull health percentage. Reinforcement and Longship Upgrades remain separate purchases.

Shardstones and Voyager

All 27 installed Epic Loot shardstone types have ship effects. Queen gives passengers +10% to +30% Eitr regeneration, based on gem rarity. Boss/unique stones retain their native minimum rarities. Conditional stones need the relevant horn upgrade; Mistwatch needs a supported installed ship wisplight. No new gems, models or art are registered.

The three Voyager enchantments grant health, stamina or Eitr regeneration. Their strength is the rolled percentage, and duration is always 10 minutes. Spend 30 continuous seconds physically standing/seated aboard to qualify. While aboard a qualifying ship the duration refreshes; after leaving, packing or destruction it counts down. Jumping/falling off the deck can interrupt initial qualification.

Each stat and strength has its own expiry. A weaker ship cannot refresh a stronger bonus; when the stronger grant expires, a weaker still-valid grant can remain. The tooltip lists all three current values. Voyager adds to native regeneration bonuses, including Rested. Queen/Eikthyr socket buffs apply only aboard and stop when leaving; nearby ship swim auras use the strongest source. Voyager is saved on the character and uses real-time UTC expiry, including offline time; death clears it.

Persistence and limitations

Enchantment snapshots are bounded, checksummed and copied between the item and the ship's root ZDO. They contain Epic Loot's full magic JSON plus per-ship shield/combat/horn proc state. Unknown effects, malformed data, unsupported versions and missing referenced gems block deployment instead of resetting the boat. Do not remove this addon while holding enchanted ships or retaining them in a world; the companion PortableShips build refuses packing/deploying items whose required addon is missing.

Normal destruction still destroys the ship's enchantments and socketed gems; PortableShips refunds only its paid construction upgrades. Enchantments/gems are not duplicated into refund crates. Oden's Chosen prevents normal hull destruction. Back up characters and worlds before testing: their saves are separate and crash/disconnect transactions are not atomic.

Damage reductions use diminishing returns with a 75% cap on this addon's reduction layer. Strongest values apply to duplicate effects rather than adding them. Sailing bonuses are capped at +100%; rowing, steering and drift changes are instance-local. Battlewake/reflection react to non-player, non-tamed enemy attackers; impact reduction covers physical environmental hits outside Ashlands boiling damage. Fader's shield absorbs a finite amount and can still be overwhelmed; its 15-minute cooldown persists while packed/offline. It grants no passenger immunity.

Other ship health/sailing/armor mods, modified Epic Loot binaries/configurations, status icons, spatial aura boundaries and full multiplayer behavior need live verification. The installed Epic Loot version is checked exactly. Native UI/Harmony execution has not been exercised by the agent.

Validation

Both projects build with zero warnings/errors. The original PortableShips suite has 2,276 checks, EpicShips has 3,235 checks, and the actual addon transfer bridge has 17 checks with native-type stubs: 5,528 offline checks total. A separate local assembly inspection verifies 58 patch/API/parameter/shard contracts. These checks do not execute Unity, the enchanting table or network transactions.

See TESTING.md before considering a public release. No game assemblies, Epic Loot DLLs, extracted artwork or other mods are distributed in this addon.
