Loot Float

Loot Float makes selected small vanilla Valheim loot items float on water, helping players recover drops that would otherwise sink out of reach.

Beta notice

This is the first public beta release from GoblinStudio.

The mod has been tested successfully in:

• singleplayer
• clean private co-op
• heavily modded private co-op through r2modman

Dedicated servers and public multiplayer environments have not yet been tested.

Features

• Adds floating behaviour only to a conservative exact allowlist.
• Supports selected small vanilla loot items.
• Keeps unknown, excluded and review-only items unchanged.
• Does not automatically modify every item or every mod-added prefab.
• Uses a deliberately conservative compatibility approach.

Installation with r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager

1. Install Loot Float through the mod manager.
2. The required BepInEx package will be installed as a dependency.
3. For the tested co-op setup, install the same Loot Float version on the host and every participating client.
4. Launch Valheim through the mod manager using the modded start option.

Manual installation

1. Install BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2333.
2. Place LootFloat.dll in BepInEx/plugins/LootFloat/.
3. For co-op, use the same DLL version on all tested PCs.
4. Start Valheim through the corresponding modded installation or profile.

Tested controls

The final beta candidate was verified with representative items including:

• Stone
• Resin
• Torch

Additional earlier live-tested items included:

• Raspberry
• Tin Ore
• Deer Meat
• Thistle
• Boar Trophy
• Stone Axe
• Hammer

Do not claim that every Valheim item floats.

Known limitations

• Dedicated servers are not yet tested.
• Public multiplayer environments are not yet tested.
• Mod-added items are not automatically included.
• Items classified as REVIEW or EXCLUDE remain unchanged.
• Amber and Neck Tail are intentionally not positive floating controls in this release.
• Future Valheim updates or item-changing mods may require compatibility updates.

When reporting an issue, include:

• Valheim version
• BepInEx version
• Loot Float version
• singleplayer or multiplayer
• host or client
• affected item name
• whether the item remained visible
• whether the item remained collectable
• relevant lines from BepInEx/LogOutput.log
• a list of other installed mods

Uninstallation

Remove the LootFloat package through the mod manager, or delete:

BepInEx/plugins/LootFloat/LootFloat.dll

Loot Float does not intentionally create world-save content.
