Give new players the basics before they settle in. KALI Welcome Rules displays a simple “Welcome”, followed by six short rules, the first time an account joins your server.

Each message goes only to that player. Everyone else can carry on playing.

How it works

• Waits for the character to load and the introductory flight to finish.
• Shows “Welcome” after a further 15 seconds.
• Displays each rule once, five seconds apart, with “Rule #1” above the first rule, and so on.
• Marks the account as welcomed only after the whole sequence finishes. An interrupted sequence starts again on the next join.

Write your rules

The package includes a starter file at BepInEx/config/FinallyWelcome/rules.txt. Keep exactly six non-empty lines, one rule per line. Short sentences work best.

Edit the file while the server is stopped, then start it again. The rules are read at startup. This version requires the file to exist and contain all six rules.

Show the welcome again

Stop the server and back up BepInEx/config/FinallyWelcome/seen-players.txt. Move that file out of the folder to reset the first-join list for everyone, then restart.

The list contains hashes of platform account identifiers, not character names. Keep it when updating if you want returning players to remain marked as welcomed.

Compatibility and limits

Tested on a Windows Valheim 1.0.20 dedicated server with unmodified players. This is a message system: it does not enforce rules, require a new character, inspect inventories, or prevent cheating.

The timing and six-rule count are fixed in this release. Other welcome plugins may show overlapping messages.

Removing it

Stop the server and remove FinallyWelcome.dll. Your rules and first-join list can be kept for a later reinstall. Updating the package may replace the starter rules file, so keep a copy of your own rules.

Installation

1. Back up your world and existing configuration, then stop the dedicated server.
2. Install BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351. No additional gameplay plugin is required.
3. Merge the package's BepInEx folder into the dedicated-server folder. Keep the subfolders intact.
4. Start the server and check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for a successful plugin load.

Install on the server only. Clients need no mod. These releases target Windows dedicated servers; console-client and Linux-server compatibility have not been independently validated.

The DLL and configuration names still begin with Finally or local.finally, the project's original internal name. Keep only one copy of this plugin installed.
