BuilderToolkit
Client-side building helpers: precise nudge and fine rotation, grid snapping, height lock, match rotation, a live build info panel and a leashed builder cam. Same placement rules as vanilla.Builder Toolkit
A client-side mod for builders: precise placement, grid snapping, a live build info panel and a leashed builder cam. Nobody else on the server needs it, and it adds no new items or pieces, so your worlds stay vanilla-compatible. Remove the DLL and everything is back to normal.
Features
| Feature | Default key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Nudge | Arrow keys, PgUp/PgDn | Move the ghost in small steps (0.1 m). Directions follow the camera, snapped to world axes. |
| Fine mode | hold Right Shift | Nudge and rotation steps become 10x smaller. |
| Fine rotate | , / . |
Rotate by 5° steps on top of the vanilla 22.5° scroll rotation. |
| Match rotation | T | Copy the yaw of the building piece under your crosshair. |
| Grid snap | G | Cycle grid sizes: off → 0.25 → 0.5 → 1 → 2 → 4 m. |
| Height lock | H | Freeze the ghost at its current height, for floors, roofs and walkways. |
| Reset | Home | Clear the nudge, fine rotation and height lock. |
| Builder cam | F6 | Fly the camera around your build (WASD, Space/LeftCtrl up/down, LeftAlt fast). |
| HUD | F7 | Show or hide the info panel: exact position and rotation, placement status, and modes. |
Every key, step size and limit can be changed in BepInEx/config/com.buildertoolkit.valheim.cfg.
Fair by design
- Same placement rules as vanilla. After the ghost moves, the spot is checked again against your build range (from your character's eyes), wards and no-build zones. If vanilla wouldn't allow it, the ghost turns red and the piece won't place. Cost, stations and structural support stay vanilla.
- The builder cam has limits:
- Your character stays put. Reach grows only a little while the cam is on (+6 m by default, 16 m max), and it's still measured from your character, not the camera.
- The cam stays within 30 m of your character (64 m max) and collides with terrain, rocks and buildings, so you can't look through walls or into dungeons.
- It won't turn on near enemies, while mounted or sailing, or without a build tool.
- It turns off right away if you take damage, an enemy comes near, or you put the hammer away.
- Purely local. Nothing is sent over the network, and no debug or dev commands are used.
