How to use
Building a ship
Open your hammer and go to the Misc tab. You'll see three new ships:
| Ship | Required Essence | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Flying Raft | Weak Flight Essence | 5 |
| Flying Karve | Flight Essence | 10 |
| Flying Longship | Pure Flight Essence | 15 |
You'll also need the original materials (wood, etc.) to build them.
Each ship has its own flight characteristics:
| Ship | Fuel Efficiency | Base Max Height |
|---|---|---|
| Flying Raft | 100% (normal) | 20 m |
| Flying Karve | 70% (shorter flight) | 40 m |
| Flying Longship | 50% (half the flight time) | 80 m |
Flying ships use the default storage of their vanilla counterparts. No extra storage slots are added.
Crafting Flight Essence
All three tiers are crafted at the Forge.
Weak Flight Essence (30 s flight):
- 1x Greydwarf Eye
- 5x Resin
Flight Essence (60 s flight):
- 1x Greydwarf Eye
- 2x Bronze
- 10x Resin
Pure Flight Essence (180 s flight):
- 5x Greydwarf Eye
- 5x Bronze
- 20x Resin
- 2x Iron
Each tier has its own color:
- Weak – green
- Normal – blue
- Pure – purple
Crafting Flight Cores
Flight Cores are permanent upgrades that boost ship performance. They work from the ship's storage or from your backpack – the highest tier you carry is used.
Flight Core recipes require an upgraded Forge:
- Flight Core I – Forge level 1
- Flight Core II – Forge level 3
- Flight Core III – Forge level 5
Flight Core I (+15% speed, +25 m height, −10% fuel):
- 5x Surtling Core
- 20x Bronze
- 30x Resin
Flight Core II (+30% speed, +50 m height, −20% fuel):
- 1x Flight Core I
- 10x Obsidian
- 5x Dragon Tear
Flight Core III (+50% speed, +100 m height, −35% fuel):
- 1x Flight Core II
- 20x Black Metal
- 10x Crystal
Each core has its own color:
- Core I – green
- Core II – blue
- Core III – gold
Altitude limits
Each ship has its own base altitude ceiling. Flight Cores increase this limit:
| Ship | Base | + Core I | + Core II | + Core III |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flying Raft | 20 m | 45 m | 70 m | 120 m |
| Flying Karve | 40 m | 65 m | 90 m | 140 m |
| Flying Longship | 80 m | 105 m | 130 m | 180 m |
The ceiling is a hard limit. You cannot fly higher, even by holding Page Up.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Page Up | Start flight / ascend |
| Page Down | Descend / land |
| W / S | Forward / backward |
| A / D | Turn left / right |
Fuel
Fuel is taken from the ship's storage first, then from your inventory. The ship always burns the weakest tier first, then Normal, then Pure.
| Essence | Flight Time |
|---|---|
| Weak | 30 s |
| Normal | 60 s |
| Pure | 180 s |
Ship efficiency applies to the base time. For example, a Karve burning a Normal Essence flies for 60 × 0.7 = 42 s.
When fuel runs out, the ship descends automatically. It won't crash.
Configuration
After the first launch, edit BepInEx/config/pl.jungle.flyingships.cfg.
| Key | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| VerticalSpeed | 8 | Ascend/descend speed (m/s) |
| ForwardSpeed | 12 | Forward speed (m/s) |
| TurnSpeed | 1.5 | Turning speed |
| LevelStabilization | 2 | Auto-leveling strength |
| AccelForward | 8 | Forward acceleration (m/s^2) |
| DecelForward | 6 | Forward deceleration (m/s^2) |
| AccelVertical | 6 | Vertical acceleration (m/s^2) |
| DecelVertical | 5 | Vertical deceleration (m/s^2) |
| MaxBank | 12 | Max roll angle in turns (degrees) |
| PitchFromAccel | 0.6 | Pitch angle from acceleration |
| HoverDamping | 3 | Hover damping strength |
| EmergencyDescentSpeed | 5 | Emergency descent speed (m/s) |
| FuelPerMinute | 1 | Fuel consumption multiplier |
Compatibility
Crossplay: Not compatible. BepInEx doesn't work with PlayFab, so this mod won't work in Crossplay mode.
Multiplayer: Server and clients both need the mod installed. Flight state syncs through ZDO.
Known issues:
- Other players see the ship flying, but without the bobbing animation. Only the pilot sees it.
- May conflict with mods that heavily modify the Ship class.
Patch Notes
0.1.2
Added
- Flight Core system with three tiers (I, II, III).
- Flight Cores boost speed (+15% / +30% / +50%), max flight height (+25 / +50 / +100 m), and reduce fuel consumption (−10% / −20% / −35%).
- Flight Cores work from the ship's storage or from your backpack – the highest tier you carry is used.
- Flight Core status icon appears in the effects row while flying with an active core.
- Each Flight Core has its own color (green, blue, gold) and icon.
- Per-ship base max altitude: Raft 20 m, Karve 40 m, Longship 80 m.
- Hard altitude ceiling – you can no longer exceed the limit by holding Page Up.
- Soft landing on descent – ship slows down near the ground instead of falling.
- Automatic emergency descent when the last essence is burned.
Changed
- Flight Core recipes require an upgraded Forge. Tier I – Forge level 1, Tier II – Forge level 3, Tier III – Forge level 5.
- Removed the Flight Essence x5 (batch) recipe. The batch variant is no longer craftable.
- Removed
MaxFlightHeightfrom the config. Altitude is now controlled per-ship. - Cleaned up unused storage code. Flying ships use the default storage of their vanilla counterparts.
- Code refactor — split into classes (
FlightPhysics,FlightFuel,FlightZdo,FlightStatusEffect,FlightCoreStatusEffect,FlyingShipFactory,FlightFuelFactory,FlightCoreFactory,FuelVisuals,CoreVisuals,ShipStorageHelper,SailBlockPatch,ShipFlightPatch,FlightEffects,FlightController,FuelTier,FlightCore).
Fixed
- Fixed Flight Essence disappearing when placed in a chest and another item was added afterwards.
- Fixed Flight Core disappearing from ship storage after saving and reloading.
- Fixed
m_dropPrefabfor Flight Cores (same fix as for Flight Essence). - Fixed
m_dropPrefabfor Flight Essence when moved between containers. - Fixed Flight Core stat bonuses not being applied on the first flight cycle.
- Fixed altitude limit being based on a global config value instead of per-ship values.
- Fixed Flight Core detection order (now runs before status effect logic).
Known Issues
- Old Flight Essence and Flight Cores that existed before this update may be broken and should be discarded. Craft new ones after updating.
- Balance of tier durations and ship efficiency is still being tuned.
