NotYourHotkeys
Modifier-aware vanilla hotkey isolation for Valheim. Prevents vanilla actions from firing when their keys are used as part of mod hotkey chords.NotYourHotkeys
Stop vanilla hotkeys from firing when you're trying to use a modded key combination.
Valheim normally doesn't care whether you're holding Alt, Shift, or Ctrl when it checks many of its keyboard actions. That means a mod using something like Alt + M can accidentally trigger both the mod hotkey and the vanilla M action.
NotYourHotkeys fixes that.
When a configured modifier is held, selected vanilla actions are temporarily suppressed so the modded shortcut can fire by itself.
Example
With Map isolation enabled:
M→ Opens the vanilla map normallyAlt + M→ Mod shortcut fires, map stays closedShift + M→ Mod shortcut fires, map stays closedCtrl + M→ Mod shortcut fires, map stays closed
No key rebinding required.
Supported modifiers
Alt, Shift, and Ctrl can each be enabled or disabled independently.
Supported vanilla actions
Version 0.1.0 supports isolation for:
- Map
- Inventory
- Build Menu
- Hide
- Sit
- Auto Pickup
- Emote Radial
- General Radial
- Toggle Walk
- Guardian Power
- Hotbar slots 1–8
Each action can be individually enabled or disabled through the configuration file.
Designed to stay out of the way
NotYourHotkeys does not globally replace Valheim's input system.
It patches specific vanilla input-processing paths and only suppresses actions explicitly configured for isolation. Unsupported actions continue through Valheim normally.
Controller inputs are left untouched.
Configuration
Config file:
BepInEx/config/notyourfriend.NotYourHotkeys.cfg
Configuration includes:
- Master enable/disable
- Alt isolation
- Shift isolation
- Ctrl isolation
- Individual vanilla-action toggles
Why does this exist?
Because sometimes Alt + M means:
"Do the mod thing."
Not:
"Do the mod thing AND OPEN MY MAP."
