InvasionMod
Dark Souls-style PvP invasions between worlds. Press F7 to invade a random open world. Invaders are scaled to the host's progression (gear, skills, food, boss powers) and get their gear back at home. Kill the host to win an idol.Changelog
0.9.5
- Error reports. The mod now sends its errors and a few key events (mod and world loaded,
invasions allowed or closed, invasions started and ended, failed joins, expulsions) to the
developer, to find bugs without asking for your log. It uses an anonymous ID per
installation: no Steam name, no character or world names, no IP. It is on by default; set
Telemetry.Enabledtofalseto turn it off. See the Privacy section of the README. - Fix: the item the Queen drops now has The Queen's rank. Before, it was not recognised and an invader could carry it into a world of any rank.
- Compatible with 0.9.4.
0.9.4
- Friends play normal co-op. The progression cap is now only for invaders. A friend who joins through the game keeps all their gear, skills, food and boss power. Before, their gear above the cap was set aside and only came back after loading their own world with the mod.
- Only the material counts. An item's rank comes from what it is made of, not its upgrade level. Before, each level above 2 added one rank, so upgraded Mistlands gear counted as Fader.
- PvP is no longer switched on for friends when someone else joins the world. It is only forced while an invasion is going on.
- Compatible with 0.9.x, but the host and their friends should update together: a 0.9.3 host still checks a friend's inventory and expels a 0.9.4 friend carrying gear above the cap.
0.9.3
- Official Discord server: https://discord.gg/4b4ewVs8Dz. It is also the website link on the Thunderstore page.
- No gameplay changes: compatible with any 0.9 version.
0.9.2
- The invasion search now finds hosts on any continent. Before, Steam only returned worlds in your region and the ones next to it.
- New config option
Search.Region:Worldwide(default) orNearbyto keep the old behaviour and get less lag. Takes effect from the next search. - Compatible with 0.9.0 and 0.9.1.
0.9.1
- New icon. No gameplay changes: compatible with 0.9.0.
- BepInExPack_Valheim is now listed as a dependency. It was already installed through Jotunn.
0.9.0
Not compatible with 0.8.0. Every player must update.
New
- Killing a player other than the host during an invasion gives a stack of raspberries, blueberries or resin.
- The host and the invader are shown on each other's map while the invasion lasts. Each player's map setting is restored afterwards.
- Returned items that do not fit in your inventory drop into a tombstone instead of being lost.
- "Invade random world" keeps searching until it finds a world, instead of stopping with "no worlds". You can close the panel and keep playing: "Attempting to invade..." stays on screen. Press Stop searching in the F7 panel to stop.
Changed
- Rank range in both directions. Invaders must be within 1 rank of the host, above or
below. Before, only invaders far above the host were blocked, so a character with no bosses
could invade an Ashlands world. The host also checks the rank on arrival. The
Security.MaxInvaderRankLeadoption was removed: the range is the same for everyone. - Invaders cannot bring back anything above their own rank. While invading, the cap is the lower of the host's rank and the invader's, and the idol for killing the host uses that rank.
- Other mods are no longer allowed. Only InvasionMod and its dependencies may be loaded.
With any other plugin or patcher, invasions are disabled, and hosts expel visitors who have
one, friends included. The
Server.VanillaOnlyoption was removed. - Visitors who fail the host check are always expelled, including friends without the mod. The
Security.UnverifiedVisitorActionoption was removed. - Friends wearing gear above the cap are now expelled, the same as invaders. The
Security.InvaderExcessGearActionandSecurity.FriendExcessGearActionoptions were removed. - Invaders spawn 100–300 m from the host, at a random distance, instead of 500 m.
- Worlds that have used hammer mode or creative modifiers can no longer be opened to invasions.
- Your own world no longer appears in the search.
- The search panel no longer shows world counts.
- In-game text and config are now in English. The plugin GUID is now
com.null.invasionmod, so a new config file is created. Copy your old settings over if you changed them. - Set-aside items are stored in
BepInEx/config/InvasionMod/.
Fixed
- The host could not open F7 while friends were in their world. Now the host can open it and allow invasions (invading is still blocked while someone is inside), and friends see "Only the host can use the invasion panel".
- Friends could join a world without typing its password: after hosting your own world, the game typed the password for you when joining someone else's, and joining from the Steam friends list skipped it entirely. Now the host always asks for the world password. Invaders still never type it: the mod answers it for them during that one connection only.
- The mod check read the plugin list before BepInEx finished loading, so mods that loaded later were never detected.
- The invasion now ends the moment the host dies, or when the last invader dies. Before, the host stayed in forced PvP until invaders disconnected.
- Searches no longer return worlds that are closed to invasions.
- The "open to invasions" state no longer carries over to another world, and the panel button shows the real state.
- The "Invade random world" button no longer stays locked after leaving a world.
0.8.0
- New: "Invade random world". The mod picks a compatible open world for you. The manual
world list is now an admin option (
Admin.WorldList).
0.7.0
- New network protocol and lobby keys. Not compatible with earlier versions.
