  • Biome-based audio illusions
  • False events designed to manipulate your mind
  • Carefully balanced escalation and cooldown systems
  • Configs are modular. Turn up/down/on/off what you wish.

How it works:
Paranoia doesn’t care if you’re new or experienced, it knows your greatest enemy is your own mind.

Systems

  • Paranoia Meter | Builds from sleep deprivation and unlocks escalating event layers
  • Haunts | Intense psychological encounters with counterplay
  • False Events | Environmental deception and misleading cues
  • Audio Illusions | Sound manipulation using Valheim’s own soundscape
  • Dungeon Hallucinations | Visual distortion, fake enemies, and sensory manipulation
  • Cursed Relics | Relieve your body. Burden your mind. Powerful boss drops carry-weight relics with escalating consequences
  • Infection & Nausea | Poison causes nausea. Mistlands creatures can infect you.
  • Persistent Ailments | Logging out will not remove infection, nausea, hallucinations, or paranoia effects

Server Notes

Server admins can tune thresholds, pacing, hallucinations, status-effect ladders, relic odds, cooldowns, Paranoidin behavior, and biome sound pools via config. Server settings are authoritative for clients.

Multiplayer testing has been limited so far. Feedback is welcome, and it genuinely helps shape the mod’s future.

Keep backups and test before deploying to important worlds.

Requirements

BepInEx

Installation:
Ensure you are running the latest version of BepInEx (linked above).

Place the mod DLL into BepInEx/Plugins/, install on all clients & server-side.

Mod managers will usually handle local installation automatically and are recommended.
