EasyLiving
Modular Valheim quality-of-life features for inventory, crafting, exploration, building, mining and survival.EasyLiving 2.0.0
By Patocino · Thunderstore package: Patocino/EasyLiving
EasyLiving is a configurable quality-of-life mod for Valheim. It reduces repetitive inventory, crafting, building and mining tasks while letting you choose which changes to use. Every current feature has a setting: switches can be turned off, and multiplier-based features offer Normal for vanilla values.
From EasyLiving 1.0
The original release offered configurable item weight, food and other consumable duration, Forsaken power duration, item durability, prevention of death-related skill loss, and protection for player-built structures. These options remain part of EasyLiving 2.0. Existing settings retain the technical BepInEx ID Ignis.EasyLiving; the legacy ProtectPlayerStructures value is converted to the new structure damage mode only when DamageMode does not already exist. An old false becomes Vanilla, never PvP.
What's new in EasyLiving 2.0
The original controls are joined by Stack Size, Fire Control, Boat Speed, Workbench Range, Map Discovery, Quick Deposit, Craft From Chests, manual Auto Repair, Vein Mining, Manual Station Resources and Auto Eject Cooked Food. Structure protection now offers three explicit modes. The formerly explored Workbench Network and Network Ward designs are not features of 2.0; nearby-chest actions use eligible containers in the area of a normal Workbench without creating a persistent network.
Settings and features
The following names and defaults match the current Ignis.EasyLiving.cfg. Multiplayer gameplay settings use the active server session and changes to those settings take effect after a new server/session start. The three action keys are local preferences.
Using another mod for one of these features? Disable the equivalent EasyLiving module and keep the rest of EasyLiving active.
Original controls
- Item Weight —
WeightMode: Half by default. Options: Normal, Half, Quarter, Zero. Applies to item weight; Normal keeps vanilla weight. - Consumable Duration —
Duration: 2x by default. Options: Normal, 2x, 3x, 5x. Extends food and timed consumable effects such as meads; Normal keeps vanilla duration. Already-active effects are not recalculated when settings change. - Forsaken Power Duration —
Duration: 2x by default. Options: Normal, 2x, 3x. Extends power duration without changing its cooldown; Normal keeps vanilla duration. Already-active powers are not recalculated. - Item Durability —
Durability: 2x by default. Options: Normal, 2x, 3x, 5x. Reduces durability loss by the chosen factor; Normal keeps vanilla wear. - Death Penalty —
PreventSkillLoss: true by default. Turn it off for vanilla death-related skill loss. When on, EasyLiving prevents normal skill-level and partial-XP loss. - Player Structures —
DamageMode: Protected by default. Options: Protected, PvP, Vanilla. Protected blocks ordinary damage to player-built structures and vehicles while keeping support/stability and hammer removal; PvP allows player-caused damage but blocks creature/environment damage; Vanilla restores normal Valheim damage. The oldProtectPlayerStructureskey remains only for 1.x configuration compatibility.
New controls
- Stack Size —
StackSize: 2x by default. Options: Normal, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x. Multiplies an item's vanilla maximum stack size; vanilla non-stackable items remain non-stackable. Normal keeps vanilla limits. - Fire Control —
Enabled: true by default. Press the normal E interaction on a compatible lighting/comfort fire to turn it on or off. While enabled, its fuel is preserved rather than consumed; the mod does not create fuel or pull fuel from chests. Obstruction and underwater rules still apply. Production-station fire components are excluded. Set false for vanilla fire behavior. - Boat Speed —
Speed: 1.25x by default. Options: Normal, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x. Changes the target top speed of boats; Normal keeps vanilla speed. - Workbench Range —
Range: 1.5x by default. Options: Normal, 1.5x, 2x, 3x. Changes the effective range of a normal Workbench, including the area used by nearby-storage features; Normal keeps its vanilla range. Other crafting-station types are unchanged. - Map Discovery —
DiscoveryRadius: 2x by default. Options: Normal, 2x, 3x, 5x. Changes future exploration reveal while traveling; Normal keeps vanilla discovery. Previously revealed map areas are not hidden if you later reduce this setting. - Quick Deposit —
Enabled: true;Key: J by default. Press J inside the effective area of a normal Workbench to move eligible inventory items into nearby chests that already contain the same item. It fills compatible partial chest stacks before empty slots, prioritizes smaller eligible stacks in your inventory, supports multiple chests and partial transfers, and leaves any remainder with you. Hotbar items, equipped items, food, potions/meads, other consumables and non-stackable items are excluded. TurnEnabledoff to disable the feature. - Craft From Chests —
Enabled: true by default. Craft or upgrade at an open crafting station using eligible nearby stationary chests in the current normal Workbench area. It does not cover hammer construction or feed production stations. Turn it off to use inventory-only vanilla crafting. - Auto Repair —
Enabled: true;Key: P by default. Press P while inside a normal Workbench area to repair eligible damaged items you carry, provided each item's real repair station and required station level exist within that same area. This is manual, not a timer; it does not scan chests. Turn it off for vanilla manual repairs. - Vein Mining —
Enabled: true;Key: H by default. Each player's personal preference starts OFF; H toggles it ON/OFF while the server feature is available. A valid pickaxe hit must actually break the first section before the remaining sections are processed, in batches of up to four per frame. Supported segmented deposits are copper, silver and Muddy Scrap Piles/iron scrap. The first hit follows vanilla handling; additional sections use pickaxe durability and award Pickaxes XP, with vanilla-style drops at the mined sections. Turn the server setting off to disable the feature for everyone, or press H to turn it off personally. - Manual Station Resources —
Enabled: true by default. During a player's manual station interaction, a supported station may use an eligible nearby chest if the player has no suitable material in inventory. No automatic feeding, background processing or persistent chest network is added. Supported: Charcoal Kiln, Smelter, Blast Furnace, Windmill, Spinning Wheel, Eitr Refinery, Oven, Frost Foundry, Frost Kiln, normal and iron cooking stations, Fermenter, Shield Generator and Ballista. The player, station and chest must be in the applicable Workbench area; station and chest ownership/access requirements still apply. Turn it off for vanilla inventory-only insertion. - Auto Eject Cooked Food —
Enabled: true by default. Ejects food when it becomes cooked, before it remains on the normal Cooking Station, Iron Cooking Station or Stone Oven long enough to overcook. Other cooking machines are excluded. Turn it off for vanilla manual collection.
Keys J, P and H can be changed independently in the config; EasyLiving blocks conflicting EasyLiving keybinds.
Installation and updating
Install EasyLiving 2.0.0 and its dependencies with a Thunderstore-compatible manager when available. For manual installation, install BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350 and Jotunn 2.30.0, then put EasyLiving.dll in BepInEx/plugins/EasyLiving/. The Thunderstore ZIP contains plugins/EasyLiving/EasyLiving.dll alongside its package metadata.
Updating the existing Patocino/EasyLiving package from 1.0 keeps the BepInEx GUID and config filename BepInEx/config/Ignis.EasyLiving.cfg. Review the new options after updating. The public author is Patocino; Ignis.EasyLiving remains the original technical ID for compatibility.
Language, compatibility and limits
EasyLiving's own player messages use PT-BR when Valheim is set to Portuguese, English when set to English, and English as the fallback for other languages. Item and station names come from Valheim where available; this does not translate the game itself.
Target game version: Valheim 1.0.12. Dependencies: denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.2350 and ValheimModding-Jotunn-2.30.0. Players joining the same world should use the same EasyLiving version. Multiplayer-specific behavior has not yet had empirical post-upload validation.
Compatibility with similar mods
EasyLiving is modular. If another installed mod provides the same or a very similar feature, disable the equivalent EasyLiving module to avoid duplicated behavior, conflicting patches or unexpected results. You do not need to disable EasyLiving as a whole; features that do not overlap can remain enabled.
Nearby chest features respect eligible container access, Ward and ownership conditions; some remote-owned containers or stations are skipped. Before taking oversized stacks to a world or server without EasyLiving, or with a lower stack setting, split them to a valid size: the destination cannot be protected by code that is not running there.
