NorseDemigodsUI

Norse Demigods, with a built-in wiki. One key opens a clean, vanilla-style panel that shows everything about your god, and a HUD that keeps your Energy, XP and companions in view. Please refer to Features section below for full list of features in this mod.

Client-side only. Install it on your own game. Servers and other players don't need it.

Item Tooltips

Item tooltip with your god's section

If a long tooltip runs off the screen (other mods add to the same tooltip), use any tooltip expansion mod that makes tooltips scroll, so nothing gets cut off.

Features

  • Your wiki, in game. Press K and read every ability, trait and perk for your god without leaving Valheim.
  • Stats that follow your level. Every number is calculated for your Demigod level, not a guess from a spreadsheet.
  • Hover the blue ▲ next to a number to see it in detail: what it is now, what it becomes next level, what it reaches at level 100, and your level cap.
  • Find your best build. See which weapons and armor suit your god, what is heavy or light, and how your current gear measures up.
  • Gear tooltips for your god. Hover any weapon, shield or armor piece to see what your god does with it, modded gear included. Optionally on the crafting window too.
  • Know your strengths and weaknesses. Check which damage you resist, what hurts you most, and which traits and powers are active right now.
  • Know how to grow. See what earns your god XP, how far the next level is, and what is holding your level cap back.
  • The whole Pantheon. Browse every god: role, playstyle, element, strengths and weaknesses, and what their numbers would be at your level.
  • Change god in one click, with a clear note of what you keep and what you lose before you confirm.
  • Ability bar with hot keys, costs and cooldowns, plus small slots for special attacks and Teleport.
  • Energy, XP and companion bars for your wolf, minions and other helpers.
  • Move the HUD yourself: open your inventory or the menu and drag the bars where you want them.
  • The HUD gets out of your way while you build. Take out a hammer, hoe or cultivator and the bars step aside so Valheim's building panel doesn't sit on top of them. Modded build hammers work too, with nothing to set up.
  • Fits your screen. The panel sizes itself to your resolution, so it looks right on 1080p, 1440p, 4K and ultrawide alike.
  • Any language. The mod's text is a file anyone can translate, and translations go in your config folder (see Localization).
  • Runestone: using one opens the panel. By default you don't need a runestone to change god (see Config).
  • Light on performance: With no extra network traffic.

Needs Norse Demigods 1.7.1. English is included, and anyone can add their own language.

Config

BepInEx/config/com.rdmods.norsedemigodsui.cfg is created on first launch. All settings only affect you and apply right away.

Setting What it does
General Enabled Turns the whole mod on or off. Default true.
General Panel Key Opens and closes the panel. Default K.
General Infusion Spoilers false: how to infuse your god's abilities is shown as a riddle. true: the panel shows the exact item, its recipe and the workstation. Default false.
General Show In Item Tooltips Adds what your god does with a weapon, shield or armor piece to its hover tooltip. Default true.
General Show In Crafting Window Adds the same section to the crafting window's item description. Off because long descriptions may not fit without a crafting UI mod that scrolls it, such as AAA Crafting. Default false.
General Panel Scale Size of the Demigod panel. 1 already fits it to your screen, so change this only to taste. It never grows past the edges of the screen. Default 1.
Runestone Runestone Required Off: no runestone is given or craftable, and you change gods in the panel. On: Norse Demigods gives and crafts the runestone as usual. Default false.
Ability Bar Show Ability Bar Shows the ability bar. Default true.
Ability Bar Show Special Attacks Adds the small special attack and Teleport slots. Default true.
Ability Bar Scale Size of the ability bar. Default 1.
Ability Bar Hide While Building Hides the ability bar while a build tool is in hand, where Valheim's building panel covers the bottom of the screen. Covers the hammer, hoe and cultivator and any modded build tool. Default true.
Meters Meter Style DemigodPanel uses our bars. NorseDemigods brings back Norse Demigods' own meters. Default DemigodPanel.
Meters Show Energy Bar / Show XP Bar Show or hide each bar. Default true.
Meters Scale Size of the Energy and XP bars. Default 1.
Meters Hide While Building Same as above, for the Energy and XP bars. Set separately, so you can hide one and keep the other. Default true.
Companions Show Companion Bars Shows bars for your wolf, minions and other helpers. Default true.
Companions Scale Size of the companion bars. Default 1.

Bar positions and widths are also in the config (as advanced settings), but dragging is easier.

Ability hotkeys are not set here. They come from the Norse Demigods config (the (Hotkeys) section), and the ability bar and panel always show whatever is set there. Change them in Norse Demigods' config and the bar updates right away.

Localization

The mod ships in English, and anyone can add another language without touching the mod or waiting for me.

Every piece of text lives in Translations/English/English.json inside the mod's folder, as a list of names and the text shown for each one. Copy that file, translate the right-hand side, and name the copy after the language:

BepInEx/config/NorseDemigodsUI/Translations/Hungarian.json

Then set Valheim to that language and restart. That's it.

A few things worth knowing:

  • It's in config, not plugins, so updating the mod will not delete your translation.
  • You don't have to translate everything. English loads first and your language goes on top, so anything you leave out simply stays English. A twenty-line translation works.
  • Modpacks can ship translations in their own config folder, and several languages at once: each player automatically gets the one matching their game language, and everyone else sees English. Nothing to switch on.
  • Name it exactly as Valheim spells the language, starting with a capital (Hungarian, German, Portuguese_Brazilian, …). A file called Hungarian - Copy.json is refused on purpose, and the mod says so in the log.
  • .yml and .yaml work too, but only if another mod has already loaded YamlDotNet. JSON always works.

The mod writes a line to the BepInEx log for every translation it loads, so you can check it took:

[Info :NorseDemigodsUI] Loaded Hungarian translation: Hungarian.json (718 new lines)

There's a fuller guide in Translations/README.md next to the English file, covering the {0} placeholders and the colour markup. Please share full translation files so I can support localizations natively by sharing them with me on Discord linked below!
