Rusty Heathens Craft Tracker — 0.1.4 test build

Pin a crafting recipe with the mouse wheel and keep its material list visible while gathering.

Display changes in 0.1.4

Moved the text column right, close to the minimap left edge, by narrowing its layout from 354 to 230 pixels. Height and right margin are unchanged. Long recipe names wrap. The transparent background and previous fixes are preserved. Remove the previous Craft Tracker version before importing 0.1.4.

Display changes in 0.1.3

Removed the checklist background box so text appears directly on screen. Moved the default position down 60 pixels at 1080p, below the minimap. Existing configurations using the old 210-pixel default automatically move to 270; custom positions are preserved. Idol filtering and the message API fix are retained.

Remove the previous Craft Tracker version before importing 0.1.3.

Fix in 0.1.2

Filters requirements marked m_upgraderResource out of ordinary crafting. Forge of Potential idols no longer appear in the material checklist or prevent its Materials ready state. This applies to all recipes, without filtering item names. The Stone Axe checklist should contain Wood 5 and Stone 4, with no Wooden Battle Idol. Previous 0.1.1 message API fix retained. Compiled and inspected; verify in-game.

Remove the previous Craft Tracker version before importing 0.1.2.

Fix in 0.1.1

The supplied Valheim 1.0.21 log showed a MissingMethodException for Character.Message when middle-clicking. Removed that obsolete call and render the Craft-tab notice directly in the mod overlay. Verified the compiled DLL no longer calls Character.Message. The fix is compiled and inspected, but still requires in-game verification.

When updating, disable/remove Craft Tracker 0.1.0 before importing this version; keep only one Craft Tracker DLL installed.

Install

Requires BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2333. Install on your own game client; the dedicated server does not need it.

In r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager, use Settings > Import local mod and select this ZIP. Alternatively, open your profile folder and copy the included plugins/RustyHeathensCraftTracker folder into BepInEx/plugins. Launch the game modded. Do not install the source folder.

Use

  1. Open a workbench, forge, cauldron, or another crafting table.
  2. In the Craft tab, hover over the recipe you want and CLICK THE MOUSE WHEEL (middle mouse button). You can scroll through the table's normal recipe list as usual.
  3. The material list appears on the upper-right side, below the minimap. Close the table and gather materials.
  4. Each line shows the amount carried / amount required for ONE craft. Missing materials are red; sufficient materials are green. Dropping or using materials updates the counts again.
  5. Craft the tracked item normally. A successful matching craft clears the tracker. Picking up that item or canceling a craft does not clear it.

Middle-click the same recipe again to stop tracking, or a different recipe to replace it. A Clear tracker button is also visible while your inventory is open. Tracking also works in the hand-crafting list. Only recipes currently shown in the native crafting menu can be selected; unknown recipes are not revealed.

Settings

After the first launch, edit BepInEx/config/com.rustyheathens.crafttracker.cfg with the game closed. Display settings: TopMargin, RightMargin, Scale. The default position leaves room for the minimap.

Scope

  • Tracks one recipe and one crafting operation, including recipes producing a stack of items.
  • Counts the local player's carried inventory. Nearby chests, equipped-item mods with separate inventories, and backpack storage are not included.
  • Craft tab only; equipment upgrades and hammer building pieces are not supported.
  • Tracking lasts for the current character session. Switching characters or restarting clears it.
  • Does not move materials, craft automatically, change recipes, or bypass crafting requirements.

Validation and limitations

Compiled successfully against ValheimGameLibs 0.221.4, BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2333, and UnityEngine.Modules 2021.3.33. RecipeDataPair properties, crafting fields, and DoCrafting(Player) were verified against those reference assemblies. The compiler reports one reference-version conflict warning for System.Net.Http in the game reference; this mod does not use HTTP.

This is a TEST BUILD. It has not been run inside Valheim, and compatibility with your installed game version and other mods is not yet confirmed. Mods replacing the native crafting menu may require an adapter. No game, Unity, or BepInEx DLLs are bundled.

First in-game check

  • At a workbench, middle-click a recipe with a missing material. Confirm the correct list appears and stays visible after leaving the table.
  • Gather the missing material. Confirm its count updates and turns green, then drop some and confirm it turns red again.
  • Reopen the table and craft it. Confirm the tracker clears only after completion.
  • Repeat at the forge or cauldron. Confirm middle-clicking does not craft or move anything.
  • If anything fails, provide BepInEx/LogOutput.log and your Valheim version.

Rebuild from source

Install .NET SDK 8. Use the assemblies from your own game and BepInEx profile:

dotnet build source/RustyHeathensCraftTracker.csproj -c Release -p:GameLibDir="C:/path/to/Valheim/valheim_Data/Managed" -p:BepInExDir="C:/path/to/profile/BepInEx/core"

UnityEngine.Modules is a compile-only NuGet dependency. The built DLL is in source/bin/Release/netstandard2.1/. Reference libraries are not included in this ZIP.
