Rusty Heathens Server QoL

A server-side Valheim quality-of-life suite built for the Rusty Heathens community.

Install and update

Install RustyHeathensServerQoL 0.5.9 on the server only. Install RustyHeathensQoL 0.5.17 on the server and all participating player PCs for the backpack UI, ground-item transfers and client support.

Keep existing configs. Stop the server when replacing DLLs manually. Keep one active copy of each plugin in BepInEx/plugins. The package does not replace your world, player saves or approved-mod policy config.

What's included in 0.5.9

  • Dropped food, potions and other consumables can go into matching regular boxes, including max-stack-one consumables.
  • Ground AutoStore dispatches one live chest owner and uses vanilla ground-item ownership consent.
  • Saves use the current serialized item decoder. Failed saves restore source and destination counts and report the failed stage.
  • Group shared storage works with automation; private and ward access checks remain enforced.
  • Rusty Backpack keeps a canonical player-linked identity, archived duplicates and the existing host when capacity grows.
  • Backpack open requests authenticate the requesting player. Backpack recovery and owner death snapshots remain included.
  • Processing transfers run through the current owner with verified saves and rollback.

Ground AutoStore

Put one matching item in a closed, accessible regular chest. Leave room for the complete dropped stack and drop items within the configured range, normally 20 metres. AutoStore must be enabled. The default player grace period is 3 seconds while a player is nearby.

The chest and drop must stay loaded and the current chest owner must have the updated QoL client connected. A matching chest is required; items stay on the ground if no suitable box is available. Backpacks, graves, carts, Personal Chests and temporary loot containers are excluded.

Rusty Backpack

The server manages player-linked backpack storage and progression capacity. Wave is the default open emote. QoL provides the scrolling four-row view, weightless integration and the invisible player-following host. Keep the current server backpack settings and player data when updating.

Other server modules

  • AutoDoors.
  • EternalFires, including fuel-burning ovens.
  • AutoProcess for nearby chest inputs.
  • Automatic white chest-content labels on supported chest lids, showing up to three item types with an Other summary. Labels are generated without persisting extra signs and work with QoL's non-interactive label support.

Verification

Built against supplied Valheim 1.0.16 and BepInEx assemblies. The combined update passes 282 local logic and simulated behavior checks. Live pickup and backpack hammer-guard confirmation remains. Test a small matching food stack and retain both PC and server BepInEx/LogOutput.log if it stays on the ground. Diagnostics identify matching/capacity/access restrictions, ownership waits and failed save stages.
