Valyn Beehive Clearance

The normal hive notice arrives only after construction. This mod previews the hive's open-space result while you move its placement ghost, so you can choose a spot before spending materials.

What it does

• A compact ring at the placement ghost turns green or red according to the game's open-space check.
• The placement preview shows the measured open-space percentage and the required threshold.
• Hovering over a built hive continues to show its open-space percentage.
• The preview also handles game builds that remove the hive component from the placement ghost.
• Adjust or disable the visual ring in the config file.

The ring marks the spot being tested; its color is the actual space result. An open-space percentage is not a fixed distance from every object.

Settings

The ring defaults to a 0.65 m visual radius. The percentage measures open directions, not distance: 43% open cannot be translated into a single minimum spacing from walls or other hives. Use the ring color and live percentage to judge each location. Edit BepInEx/config/valyn.mods.beehiveclearance.cfg after first launch.

Manual installation and updating

1. Close Valheim and install BepInExPack_Valheim.
2. Extract this package. Copy plugins/ValynBeehiveClearance.dll into BepInEx/plugins/ValynBeehiveClearance/ and restart Valheim.
3. When updating: Remove any older BeehiveClearance.dll and replace this DLL. The renamed file uses the same plugin ID and config; keep only one copy installed.

Removal

1. Close Valheim.
2. Delete ValynBeehiveClearance.dll from that folder and remove any older BeehiveClearance.dll copy. Existing hives and their normal game behavior remain.
