WiresNativeCursorSupport
Uses native/system cursor states throughout Valheim UI on Windows, macOS and Linux.Wire's Native Cursor
Wire's Native Cursor replaces Valheim's custom pointer behavior with the native/system cursor language of the desktop OS.
Supported platforms
Windows
Uses the real Win32 system cursors through user32 and the existing WM_SETCURSOR compensation path.
macOS
Uses AppKit NSCursor directly:
- Arrow
- Pointing Hand
- I-beam
- Closed Hand for drag/move
- native horizontal/vertical resize
- Crosshair
- native busy/progress cursor where exposed by macOS
Linux
Loads the user's actual Xcursor theme images through libXcursor, then gives those native-theme cursor images to Unity's hardware cursor API. This avoids tying the implementation to an X11 window and works with X11, XWayland and native Wayland Unity sessions.
Linux supports theme-provided animation for Working/Wait cursors.
Shared behavior
- ordinary background/non-interactive UI: Arrow
- buttons and inventory slots: Hand
- text fields: I-beam
- carrying an inventory item: Move/Grab equivalent native cursor
- sliders/scrollbars: horizontal or vertical resize
- large map: Crosshair
- map drag: Move/Grab
- crafting: Working/Progress
- loading/waiting: Wait
Valheim remains responsible for whether the cursor is visible and whether it is locked. The mod only chooses its native/system appearance.
