UnlimitedBreeding

UnlimitedBreeding screenshot

Removes only Valheim's "too many animals nearby" restriction. In vanilla, breeding and egg laying stop once a pen holds a few animals (or eggs) within about 10 m - this mod lets tamed animals keep breeding and hens keep laying eggs past that limit.

Everything else stays exactly as in vanilla: taming, feeding/hunger, pregnancy time, breeding chance, growth, egg hatching and normal spawning are untouched. It works for every animal that uses Valheim's shared breeding system (boars, wolves, lox, hens, ...).

What it changes

Vanilla checks, before a tamed animal may start breeding or laying an egg, how many adults of its kind plus how many offspring/eggs are within its check radius, and refuses once that reaches the animal's limit. This mod only replaces that single comparison. All other conditions (tamed, not hungry, not alarmed, partner nearby, love points, ...) are still checked by the game as usual.

Configuration

Settings live in BepInEx/config/com.cube.unlimitedbreeding.cfg, generated on first run:

Setting Default Description
BypassNearbyBreedingLimit true Ignore the nearby limit for animal breeding.
BypassNearbyEggLimit true Ignore the nearby limit for egg laying (hens). Set breeding to false and eggs to true for "eggs only".
MaxNearbyCreatures 0 0 = no limit at all. A number above 0 = your own cap instead (breeding / egg laying stops once that many animals + eggs are nearby).
NearbyRadius 0 Radius in meters used to count animals and eggs for your own cap. 0 = the animal's vanilla radius. Only used while MaxNearbyCreatures is above 0.
DebugLogging false Logs (at most once a minute per animal) when the vanilla limit would have blocked something.

Multiplayer

Breeding is decided by whichever player's game currently "owns" the animal - normally someone standing near the farm. Everyone who plays near your animals should have the mod installed; otherwise the vanilla limit applies while a player without it owns them. The dedicated server itself does not need it.
