GooCosmetics

Give your gear the look of items you have collected. Choose its model and particles separately. Keep its stats, upgrades, durability, and enchantments. No items are consumed.

Apply an illusion

1. Open your inventory or a storage chest, away from crafting stations and other menus.
2. Hover over your gear and press T. Press T over empty space to open the window with an empty Your item slot.
3. Drag an item into Appearance, or use its Collection button to choose a saved look.
4. Optionally choose a different source in Particles. Otherwise, your selected appearance supplies them automatically.
5. Click Apply Illusion.

Both donor slots start with a dimmed picture of your original item. Choosing a different donor shows its picture normally. Drag another item into a slot to replace the selection.

Collections

Your character remembers gear that passes through their inventory, even after selling, losing, or storing it. Pick up older stored gear to add it.

The appearance collection shows matching looks. The particle collection shows matching weapons you have obtained that have particles or lights. Particle donors follow the same type and attack checks as appearance donors.

Each collection opens in its own window: 4 columns, 6 rows, with Previous and Next pages. Hover over an icon for details. Standard gear appears in progression order, followed by modded gear alphabetically.

Use the search field to find a name. Click a cell’s star, or right-click the cell, to favorite it. Favorites only narrows the results to your starred looks. Favorites are saved with your character.

Click a collection’s button again to hide it. Drag any window by its title bar. Press T to close all windows. Shortcuts pause while you type in search.

Particles

The particle section appears once your character has collected a weapon with particles. Choose a matching weapon by dragging it into the slot or opening Collection.

• Original particles: turn on to use your own gear’s particles.
• No particles: hide particles on that item.
• Clear choice: return to the selected appearance’s particles.

The Original look and Original particles toggles sit below their Collection buttons. Turning one on restores the dimmed original icon; turning it off restores the last donor chosen for that slot. Each item remembers its applied selections.

Matching and removal

Weapon models need the same type and attacks. Shield types stay separate. Armor matches the same body part. Pickaxes are supported; hammers, hoes, and utility items are not.

Hover over your gear and press -, or click Remove Illusion.

Preview and Undo

Click Preview to inspect your selected appearance before applying it. Drag the preview to rotate, scroll to zoom, and right-click to reset the view. Original and Selected compare the original gear with your choices. Previewing an inventory item does not equip it or change its data.

Click Undo to reverse your latest Apply or Remove in the current character session. Closing the window keeps that undo step; loading a character clears it. The affected item must still be in your inventory and retain the cosmetic change being undone.

Settings and multiplayer

Change shortcuts, name color (purple by default), name markers, and visibility of other players’ illusions in your mod manager’s configuration editor.

Use donor icons is a toggle in the illusion window. It changes inventory and hotbar pictures immediately and remembers your choice across characters and restarts. Default: off. It is no longer a config entry; older saved choices are carried over automatically.

Allow mixing of unknown types lets unclassified weapons exchange looks and particles after the usual checks. Known types and equipment positions stay separate. Default: off. Disabling it keeps existing illusions visible.

Other players need the same mod version to see your illusions. Players without it see your original gear. Illusions also appear on your character in the main menu.
