FreeCrafting

Crafting and upgrading cost no items. Repair works at any station level.

What it does

• Free crafting: new items cost nothing.
• Free upgrading: upgrades cost nothing.
• Station level (your choice): by default you still need the right station level to craft and upgrade. You can turn this check off.
• Repair at any station level: you can repair an item even if the station level is too low. You still need the right station type, for example a forge for forge items.
• Forge of Potential: works there too. You can make the idol free, make every upgrade succeed, stop the item from breaking, and stop a failed upgrade from lowering the item (all are settings).
• Building pieces is not changed.

You can turn each type on or off. You can also turn each station on or off.

The recipe list may still show item costs, sometimes in red. The craft button still works.

Settings

Install ConfigurationManager (optional). Press F1 in game and find FreeCrafting.

• 1 - General: Enabled is the master switch. Require station level (on by default) blocks crafting and upgrading when the station level is too low, like the normal game. Turn it off to ignore the station level.
• 2 - Types: Free crafting, Free upgrading, Repair at any station level.
• 3 - Stations: Inventory (no station), Workbench, Forge, Black forge, Cauldron, Stonecutter, Artisan table, Galdr table, Food preparation table, Forge of Potential (off by default), Other stations.
• 4 - Forge of Potential: Free idol (off by default) means the idol costs nothing. When it is off, you pay the idol and nothing else. It only matters when the Forge of Potential station switch is on. Guaranteed success (off by default) makes every upgrade succeed (100% chance). Prevent item breaking (off by default): a roll that would destroy the item counts as a normal failure instead. Prevent level loss (off by default): a failed upgrade does not lower the item. Turn on both of the last two and a failure can never hurt your item.

A type works only if its type switch and the station switch are on. Changes apply at once. The settings are also in BepInEx/config/metalpietie.freecrafting.cfg.

Dependencies

• BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2351 or newer (installed for you by your mod manager).

Other mods

It works together with the "Craft, Build, Smelt, Cook, Fuel - Pull From Containers" mod. That mod also moves items for smelters, fires and cooking. FreeCrafting does not change those.

Client side only

You install it on your own PC. The server does not need it. Some servers do not allow mods that remove item costs. Ask the server owner first.

Achievements

Valheim 1.0 can block achievements on modded characters. In my own testing, achievements stopped working on my modded setup even with this plugin turned off. I do not know which of my mods caused it. FreeCrafting does not set the cheat flag by itself in my tests. I fixed it with the KeepAchievements mod. You still must earn each achievement by playing.
