Why do this?
Though this mechanic is intentional and discourages use of ill-suited vessels for long ocean adventures it currently has an annoying flaw in multiplayer games.
Damage triggers if depth change is too steep for a given time span. And this is not uncommon to get your vessel damaged when your game tries to catch up with a server or another players because this 'catch up' often leads to a sharp depth change.
The solution provided by this mod is straightforward - a single parameter change.
