Poison and Tasty Mead VFX

Bring two of Valheim's meads to life with unique, vanilla-inspired visual effects!

Poison and Tasty Mead VFX adds custom particle effects, lighting, and activation sounds to Poison Resistance Mead and Tasty Mead, giving each its own visual identity while preserving the look and feel of Valheim.

Poison Resistance Mead

Poison Resistance Mead now produces a vibrant green visual effect inspired by Valheim's existing Fire Resistance Mead effect.

• Green particles and a carefully tuned green light illuminate the surrounding area.
• A matching green flare complements the effect.
• Preserves the original vanilla particle behavior and timing.
• Includes a vanilla potion activation sound.

Tasty Mead

Tasty Mead receives a distinct visual effect that reflects its trade-off between stamina regeneration and health regeneration.

• Rising yellow particles represent improved stamina regeneration.
• Descending red particles represent reduced health regeneration.
• Individual particles retain their assigned colors throughout their lifetimes.
• Golden supporting particles, lighting, and a subtle flare complete the effect.
• Includes a vanilla stamina potion activation sound.

Features

Both effects are built using Valheim's existing visual assets, with custom adjustments to their colors and behavior.

The mod supports multiplayer synchronization, allowing other players with the mod installed to see the effects when someone drinks either mead.

Purely cosmetic: No changes are made to the meads' stats, durations, recipes, or gameplay effects.

Requirements

• Valheim 1.0
• BepInEx
• Jötunn, the Valheim Library

The required dependencies are declared in the Thunderstore package manifest for mod-manager installation.

Installation

Mod manager: Install the mod through Thunderstore Mod Manager, r2modman, or another compatible manager. Dependencies will be installed automatically.

Manual installation:

1. Install BepInEx and Jötunn.
2. Place PoisonAndTastyMeadVFX.dll in your BepInEx/plugins folder.
3. Launch Valheim and enjoy!

For multiplayer synchronization, install the mod and its dependencies on the server and participating clients.

If you previously installed standalone versions of the Poison or Tasty Mead VFX mods, remove their old DLLs before installing this combined version.

Compatibility

This mod modifies the visual and audio activation effects of Poison Resistance Mead and Tasty Mead. Mods that replace the same status-effect start effects may conflict.
