Void Guns

First-person combat for Void Crew. Craft hand-held energy and kinetic guns, fight HOLLOW machines that defend stations and ambush you on EVA, and keep your guns charged back on the ship.

Guns only hurt Void Guns enemies: never ships, crew or anything else of the game's.

Guns

Gun Fire Battery Fabricator
Point Blaster Semi-auto pistol, up to 6 shots a second; overheats after about 8 quick shots 80 shots 15 alloys
Shuriken PDR Full-auto carbine, 9 shots a second; overheats after about 3 s of fire 240 shots 40 alloys
Recuser Longbow Heavy bolt about once a second, 4× scope; overheats after 5 quick shots 25 shots 60 alloys
Kinetic Revolver Six heavy rounds, then reload (R) 36 rounds 25 alloys
Litany AR6 Full-auto, red-dot sight, 30-round magazine 240 rounds 45 alloys
Benediction Rifle Scoped, five-round magazine, hits hardest 25 rounds 70 alloys
Pulse Grenade Thrown energy grenade (right click shows the arc), 6 m blast; back in the holster for 15 s after each throw 10 throws 30 alloys
  • Made at the Fabricator (Resources tab) from the start of a run. Every new run starts with a Point Blaster per player on the ship's empty starboard shelf.
  • Shots spread as the gun heats. Aiming steadies it; an overheated gun has to vent before it fires again. Damage falls off with distance.
  • Call of Duty style handling: the gun leads and the arms follow, sprinting lowers it, aiming brings it up to the sights, and turns and steps sway it a little. The gun's name and ammo show at the bottom right.

Batteries and the Gun Charging Station

Each shot drains the gun's battery; an empty gun won't fire. Recharge guns at the Gun Charging Station, a buildable module (Fabricator, Utility tab) that charges a gun from empty to full in about 30 s while it has power. Hover over a gun to see its charge, like a power cell. The station is offered from the first Fabricator upgrade, drops as loot like the battery charge station, and can be learned by recycling a looted one.

Enemies

HOLLOW machines, black and glowing purple.

  • HOLLOW Sentry: a floating eye. It keeps its distance, charges up (glowing) and fires slow purple bolts you can dodge.
  • HOLLOW Leaper: a four-legged walker that clings to floors, walls, ceilings and hulls. Listen for its steps and the snarl as it crouches: then it leaps.
  • HOLLOW Trooper: the most dangerous: a mecha gunner with back thrusters. It fires bursts of bolts, boosts aside when shot, bashes you up close, vents its gun now and then, and flies after you when you take to space.
  • HOLLOW Titan: the biggest. A heavy walker that sweeps a continuous laser across the room after a short aiming line, and strikes anyone who gets too close.

Station encounters: the first time you board a station or derelict, it's defended: a few defenders, then reinforcement waves, with on-screen alerts and an alarm. Clear them all to secure it. More players, more enemies.

EVA ambushes: stay out on EVA and Leapers may crawl out onto a nearby hull to hunt you.

Kills drop alloy shards that drift to you, and now and then a gun.

PvP

From the hub's Galaxy Map, choose PVP:

  • Free For All: pick a map. First to 20 kills (or most kills in 10 minutes) wins.
  • Team Deathmatch: two random stations, BLUE against RED, each team starting in its own. First team to 30 kills.
  • Search & Destroy: four stations in a circle: each team's base and bomb sites A and B. Attackers plant the bomb (hold G) and it goes off after 35 s; defenders stop them or defuse it. One life per round (the fallen spectate their team), sides swap each round, best of 5 with overtime to 7.

Everyone picks a class (one gun each) at the start, waits out a 5 s countdown, then fights with jetpacks and unlimited oxygen. Spawns keep you away from enemies. Hold Tab for the scoreboard, B to change class. At the end, a scoreboard, then everyone returns to the hub. The host starts matches, and can end one early from the pause menu (RETURN TO HUB). Everyone needs the mod.

Map pictures for the Galaxy Map: stand in an arena and type /guns pvp shot (saved to the mod's Maps folder).

Q Drop the gun
R Reload (kinetic guns)
Tab / B PvP: scoreboard / class picker
G Search & Destroy: hold to plant or defuse the bomb

Keys can be changed in the config ([Controls]).

Settings and commands

Almost everything is tunable in F5 > Void Guns or in BepInEx/config/VoidGuns.cfg: per-gun damage, fire rate, heat, battery and hold pose, enemy stats, encounter size, drops, sounds, and the HOLLOW colours. [Unlocks] UnlockAll (the host's setting applies to everyone) makes the Gun Charging Station available from the start of a run.

Chat commands (/guns): give pistol|rifle|sniper (host), enemy sentry|leaper|trooper|titan|target [n], enemy clear, ambush (host), encounters reset, unlock on|off (host), loot, pose, debug.

Multiplayer

Everyone in the session needs the mod. The host runs the enemies, encounters and drops, and everyone sees the same fight. Multiplayer has had less testing than single player. Reports are welcome.
