An Expansion-like mod

Expedition – is a work-in-progress mod which aims to add a wide variety of content, crafted with the goal of not disrupting normal game's balance and lore, and built upon what themes and elements the world of Risk of Rain already had to offer.

Currently mod is in the early stage of development, which means some bugs here and there are expected and some things can be changed further down the line, but no serious errors or unfinished assets is left in any version of the mod. So feel free to play it right now!

For now, mod adds 15 items, 3 equipments, 1 elite and 1 artifact for your gameloop, all complemented with authentic logs and achievements. More yet to come!

Items

Icon Name / Effect

Common / Tier 1 Items

Shamanic Tambourine
Using a Secondary, Utility, or Special skill increases movement and attack speed by 5% for 5 seconds. Maximum cap of 10% (+10% per stack).
Paper Crane
Leaving combat speeds up skill recovery by 10% (+10% per stack).
Patched Cloak
Taking damage over 10% of your maximum health increases armor by 30 (+15 per stack) for the next 5 seconds. Once triggered, the effect cannot be activated for the next 10 seconds.
Leaking Nitrogen Cylinder
Upon taking damage, there is a 33% chance to douse all enemies within 12m (+6m per stack) with liquid nitrogen for 160% base damage, slowing them by 80% for 5s (+1s per stack).
Extended MRE
Activating an interactable creates a healing MRE, that heals for 6% (+6% per stack) of maximum health.
Box of Valuables
When you open a barrel, there is a 15% (+15% per stack) chance that it drops an item (90% Tier 1/10% Tier 2).

Uncommon / Tier 2 Items

Geolocator
At the start of each stage shows location of portal, shrines and other special places of interest for the next 30 seconds. Grants a 100% chance (+50% per stack) for an additional shrine to spawn.
Overheating Core
Reduces cooldown of Secondary and Utility skills by 15% (+15% per stack). Increases movement speed by 25% (+25% per stack). Breaks after 6 minutes. The timer is refreshed when moving to the next stage.
Active Growth
Receiving healing increases your movement speed and damage by 15% (+10% per stack). Effect lasts from 1 to 10 seconds, depending on the amount of healing received.

Legendary / Tier 3 Items

Pathogen "X"
Upon killing an enemy, creates a pathogen cloud in a 12 meters radius (+4 meters per stack), which transfers all negative effects from the killed creature to other enemies.
Heavy Metal
After the boss spawns, grant an additional 5 rolls on favorable outcome to your and your allies' random effects for the next 20 seconds (+10 seconds per stack).
Bone Feathers
While in midair, using a Primary skill releases a stream of bone feathers in a straight line, dealing 80%x4 damage per second (+2 feathers per second per stack).

Lunar Items

Crown of the Overlord
Increases damage dealt to non-boss enemies by 50% (+50% per stack). Decreases damage dealt to bosses by 50% (+50% per stack), and increases damage taken from bosses by 50% (+50% per stack).
Vane of Space Winds
Increases movement speed by 50% (+50% per stack). Increases skill cooldowns by 50% (+50% per stack).
Vicious Cycle
At the start of each stage, converts 5 (+5 per stack) random items into scrap of the same rarity. Guarantees at least one printer of each rarity type to appear on each stage.

Equipments

Sanctuary Talisman
Makes you invisible for the next 10 seconds, or until you use any skills. While invisible, you regenerate 1% of your maximum health per second.
Lucky Compass
Points to a random object on the stage and makes it lucky until it is used again or you interact with the marked object.
Superfast Terraformer
When used on the ground, create an earthquake at a distance of 30 meters, dealing 200% damage per second, stunning and knocking up grounded enemies in the air for the next 6 seconds.
When used in the air, create a tornado at a distance of 30 meters, dealing 100% damage per second, interrupting flying enemies and sucking them into a whirlwind. The tornado lasts for the next 6 seconds, and scatters enemies around upon ending.

Elites

Icon Name / Effect
Primal(T1)
A primordial power, connection with which is born in desperation and fear.
Injures enemies on hit, disabling ability to sprint for 2 seconds. Upon losing 50% of it's maximum health enters rage, increasing it's movement and attack speed by 50% and becoming immune to stun.

What's next

There's a long road ahead; Items and Characters, Stages and Enemies, but in order not to make unnecessary promises, let's define the closest goals to achieve.

From now on we plan to work on the pack of 3 stages and 3 characters, and in between, gradually expand the mod's item pool (as a way to relax a little). This pack will include:

Current known issues and work-in-progress stuff:

  • Currently no display prefab for Patched Cloak.
  • Pulling force of Superfast Terraformer's whirlwind behaving weirdly in some cases.
  • Effect overlays seen only by host.
  • Animations of Superfast Terraformer and general look of some items could use some improvement.
