README

Welcome to Crystalide

Crystalide is a mod that currently adds items only (for now). The mod is inspired by a roleplaying game with friends, and draws from its universe.

At present, the mod introduces five unique items, with more in development.

Culpability Power (Tier 3 / Red Item)

Theme: Strength derived from guilt, kills, and the loss of allies.

Core Mechanics:

  • Gain +1 Culpability stack upon killing an enemy.

  • Each stack grants:

    • +1.2% to all base stats (damage, attack speed, movement speed)
    • +0.5 flat armor
    • +0.1 flat health regeneration
    • +0.05 flat critical strike chance
  • Maximum of 120 stacks per item instance.

  • If an ally dies:

    • Lose 50% of current stacks
    • Future kills grant +2 stacks per kill (instead of +1) for that stage.
  • All stacks reset upon the holder's death or the start of a new stage.

  • A buff icon visually indicates the number of Culpability stacks.

Gospel of Jealousy (Tier 2 / Green Item)

Theme: Envying and taking what others possess.

Core Mechanics:

  • At the start of each stage, copies 1 random item (+1 per stack) from another player's inventory.
  • Includes Lunar and Boss items in the copy pool.
  • In solo play: copies items from your own inventory instead (excluding this item).
  • This effect triggers only once per stage per player.

Gospel of Irresponsibility (Lunar Item)

Theme: Embracing chaos for great power, at significant risk.

Core Mechanics:

  • Aura of Chaos:
    • Enemies within a 25m radius of the holder are buffed:
      • +30% Attack Speed (+7.5% per Lunar item owned by the holder)
      • +30% Movement Speed (+7.5% per Lunar item owned by the holder)
    • The holder has a visual indicator for this aura.
  • Critical Strike Bonus (Holder):
    • Grants +10% Critical Strike Chance (+10% per Lunar item owned by the holder) per stack of Gospel of Irresponsibility.
    • Grants +10% Critical Strike Damage (+10% per Lunar item owned by the holder) per stack of Gospel of Irresponsibility.
  • Low Health Attack Speed Bonus (Holder):
    • While at or below 60% combined health and in combat, gain +0.05 flat attack speed per second.
    • This bonus stacks up to a cap of +0.05 per Lunar item owned by the holder.
    • The overall maximum for this bonus is +0.75 total, which can be increased by +0.25 per Lunar item owned.
    • Resets progressively when out of combat.
    • A buff icon displays the accumulated bonus.
  • Movement Speed Bonus (Holder):
    • Gain +25% movement speed (multiplicative) per stack of Gospel of Irresponsibility.
  • Proximity Damage/Armor Effect (Holder vs. Enemies within 25m):
    • Holder gains +6% total damage per nearby enemy per stack of Gospel of Irresponsibility.
      • This effect is capped at a maximum of 3 enemies.
      • The enemy cap is increased by +2 for each Lunar item owned by the holder.
    • Simultaneously, holder loses 1 flat armor per nearby enemy per stack of Gospel of Irresponsibility.
      • This armor penalty is increased by +1 for each Lunar item owned by the holder.
  • Death Penalty (Holder):
    • On death:
      • Attempt to remove 1 random Red item.
      • If unsuccessful, attempt to remove 3 random Green items.
      • If still unsuccessful, attempt to remove 5 random White items.

Gospel of the Dreamer (Lunar Item)

Theme: Influencing fate by choosing a shared burden.

  • Activation: Interact with a Seer Station while holding this Gospel.
  • The Dream: At the next stage, a Dream Orb appears. Interact to choose between two random items.
  • The Sharing: The chosen item is given to you. At the stage after the choice, all enemies also receive a copy of this item.
  • Cycle: The effect ends after sharing, allowing for a new activation.

Gospel of Timidity (Tier 1 / White Item)

Theme: Vanishing in the face of danger, especially near chaotic allies.

Core Mechanics:

  • Every 12 seconds, become invisible and invulnerable for 2 seconds (+0.5s per additional stack, max 6s total).

  • If an ally holding the Gospel of Irresponsibility is nearby (within 15m), the holder of Gospel of Timidity becomes invisible (without invulnerability) as long as the main 12-second effect is not active.

    • This proximity invisibility is managed by an internal, non-visible buff.

Gospel of Failure (Tier 1 / White Item)

Theme: Finding unexpected strength in moments of weakness.

Core Mechanics:

  • When hit by an enemy, one stack of this Gospel temporarily breaks, transforming into a "Broken Gospel of Failure" in your inventory (its icon changes to signify it's inactive).
  • Upon breaking, you receive a random buff from a predefined list for 10 seconds (+5 seconds per total stack of Gospel of Failure, including broken ones).
  • All "Broken" Gospels of Failure are repaired (reverting to their normal state) at the start of each new stage.
  • This item is subject to the "major Gospel" exclusivity rule.

Shared Mechanic: Gospel Item Exclusivity

Players may only possess one "major" Gospel-type item at any given time. The following items are exclusive with each other:

  • Culpability Power
  • Gospel of Jealousy
  • Gospel of Irresponsibility
  • Gospel of the Dreamer
  • Gospel of Timidity
  • Gospel of Failure

Attempting to pick up a second conflicting Gospel-type item will fail, and a chat message will inform the player of the restriction.
