README

Fast Arti Bolts

A variant of Artificer's Flame Bolts, reworked slightly to scale with attack speed (like Merc's and Commando's R's)

Overview:

  • You start out shooting two firebolts with each use
  • Firebolt damage and proc coefficient are halved
  • The more attack speed you have, the more fast firebolts you'll shoot
  • Attack speed no longer increases the speed of the attack animation

Notes:

  • Warning! May not work in multiplayer. If the host has the mod, the skill works fine (other players don't need it), but for clients, even if the host has the mod, the alternate ability may be broken.
  • Starting out, the two firebolts combined will have the same damage output as the one vanilla firebolt
  • If you have high enough attack speed and you're shooting firebolts faster than the framerate, they will double spawn on top of each other.
  • Idea half stolen from K'Not Devourer of Worlds on the modding discord, who proposed to have firebolt damage scale with attack speed

Reach out to me on discord TheTimesweeper#5727 if you have any horrible crashes or other issues I didn't catch. I'd love to hear feedback on how it works/feels.

Things I'd like to do:

  • It's not easy to tell if you're shooting more firebolts. I'd like to communicate this somehow
  • rebrand this as a new element (wind?). Instead of igniting when it lands, it'll slice in a small area for a couple quick hits (which can proc).
  • or at least make it look a little different
  • properly graph out its damage over time and how attack speed increase affects damage and procs to really balance it

I don't think I'll be dedicating more time on it past this. If there are issues, I will definitely fix them. Also if any folks have any feedback and would like me to expand on this I'll probably continue. Until then, thanks for reading and have a lovely evening c:
