Gentlemens Map Kit
Loads custom map packs (like Rooftop Greenhouse) in the current game build and adds their extras: breakable glass, shark water, map traps and the water-tank dunk.Gentlemen's Map Kit
A loader for custom map packs in A Gentlemen's Dispute, built on the game's official mod loader. Install it together with a map pack such as Rooftop Greenhouse.
Everyone in the lobby needs the same version installed.
What it does
- Loads map packs (the official Workshop Tools format:
mod.json+maps.json+ a scene bundle) in the current game build, which cannot load them by itself yet. The maps join the normal map rotation. - Adds the extras a pack asks for:
- Breakable glass walls and roofs.
- Shark water and rising tides.
- Traps placed on the map.
- The water-tank dunk: on maps that have one, falling off the edge sends you flying out of a water tank (with a splash) instead of the usual reset, and you are slowed for a few seconds.
- Cannons spawn on pack maps like on the game's own maps.
On its own the Map Kit adds nothing you can see: it needs at least one map pack.
Manual install
- Close the game.
- Download this package (Manual Download) and unzip it anywhere.
- Open the game's folder: in Steam, right-click A Gentlemen's Dispute > Manage > Browse local files.
- Open the Mods folder there (create it if it is missing).
- Copy the GentlemensMapKit folder from the zip into Mods, so you end up with
Mods\GentlemensMapKit\mod.json. Copy the whole folder, not just what is inside it; the other files in the zip (manifest.json,README.md,icon.png) are not needed. - Put the map packs in the same Mods folder: the Map Kit looks for packs in the folders next to its own.
- Start the game. The mod is loaded automatically.
- Updating: delete the old
Mods\GentlemensMapKitfolder first, then copy in the new one. - Uninstalling: delete
Mods\GentlemensMapKit.
Don't edit or add files inside the mod folder: the game checks the mod's files, and a changed folder will not match other players in a lobby.
Notes
- Gameplay (glass breaking, the dunk) runs on the host; every player sees and hears it.
- Not everything has been tried with remote clients yet. Bug reports welcome: https://github.com/rgkable/GentlemensDisputeMods
