Installation

Place the .dll file into the Mods folder in your game directory.


What This Mod Does

Adds realistic brain injuries that can occur when an NPC dies from a head wound, along with optional gameplay improvements.


Brain Injuries

Injuries are based on real neurological posturing responses that occur after fatal brain trauma:

Injury Description
Decorticate Flexion of arms, extension of legs
Decerebrate Full extension of arms and legs, arched back
Hemiplegic Posturing only on the left side
Flaccid Complete loss of muscle tension
Fencing Arms stretched forward
TonicSpasm Temporary muscle stiffening
Hypotonia decreased muscle tension in the trunk and head
Lazarus Reflex Corpse can flex arms into "mummy pose" for a while

Unconsciousness

A strong enough blow to the head can cause an NPC to lose consciousness temporarily. The NPC will collapse and remain incapacitated for a period of time before recovering.

  • may be glittching sometimes (i don't know how to fix it yet)

Only triggered by blunt attacks.


Optional Improvements

  • Reduced Torso Damage — Torso is slightly more durable
  • Reduced Blunt Head Damage — Head is slightly more resistant to blunt force

Settings

All options are available in-game via BoneMenu. All settings are enabled by default.

Setting Description
Knockouts / Unconscious Enables or disables temporary unconsciousness
Brain Injuries Enables or disables posturing on death
Reduced Torso Damage Enables or disables torso damage reduction
Reduced Blunt Head Damage Enables or disables blunt head damage reduction

  • M1st – for identifying the: spawning limp NPCs issue.

Known issues

  • Level loading time is longer than natural (probably due to clearing NPC's data to prevent memory conflicts)
  • The head and hips of unconscious NPCs may sometimes be unnaturally loose
  • Sometimes spawning NPC can cause them to go limp (90% sure it's fixed)
