BESTIARY

Sigurd’s danger level: 5%

Scientific name: Lucis Exhauritor

A small winged mammal of the Chiroptera family, that wont LEAVE ME ALONE. when rich first encountered it, I didn’t believe him. why would this bat only go after light? arent they blind? well, it appears they’ve adapted or something to these abandoned facilities, because not only are they drawn to light, they DRAIN it. a literal goddamn energy vampire. HOW am i supposed to find my way around when it just keeps darkening everything? I cant see a damn thing in here! Not that getting a flashlight helped, that only made it worse. and dont get me started on when rich found an apparatus.

Anyways, getting back on point, they do not seem to attack us directly. They are similar to the Roaming Locusts in that way, all they want is light. Even when I hit one of them, all it did was just fly away. Compared to everything else in there, they are surprisingly calm. Which only infuriates me even more, if you are gonna steal my power, at least act hostile. Give me a reason to kill you. Attack me, look more monstrous, anything! Instead you’re just a regular slightly scary looking bat that sucks light, nuisance in a nutshell.

I almost felt bad when killing them, they seem like the only normal creature left on these moons. To them, am I the monster? No, no one is a monster here. this is just a job. and jobs have no monsters, they just have work. work work work work work work work. thats all it is. thats all it ever will be. these bats are not a threat, simply a distraction. just let me work. ignore me and let me work or at the very least kill me instead. i dont have energy for this.

This is Desmond. Sigurd's ability to write has degraded, so I will fill out the rest of this log. The Lucis Exhauritor, or Light Bat as the crew calls it, is indeed attracted to light. Everything Sigured stated regarding its nature and behavior is true. However, there’s another thing about them that I’ve noticed. Every time we encounter one, Sigurd seems to become more and more tired. Is this just his deteriorating mental state, or is it the Bats? They don’t seem to affect any of the other creatures on the moons, nor any of the other crew members. But Sigurd’s erratic behavior didn’t start until he met one. Maybe this is nothing, maybe it’s unrelated, but I thought it was worth to mention. Long exposure is definitely not recommended either way.
