ContentExpansion 1.2.0

Configured modpack adding extra content on top of the basicmods vanilla+ package. New monsters, items, and mechanics. Game balance is adjusted somewhat. There are some new ways to make money and the penalty for TPK is less harsh with quota rollover, but new surprises and dangers await.

It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to make a fresh modpack profile every time the pack updates, especially if mods have been noted to be removed in the changelogs.

Noteworthy additions

  • requires my basicmods modpack with a bunch of vanilla-like fixes and tweaks, see there for details: https://thunderstore.io/c/lethal-company/p/WeatheredScarecrow/Basicmods/
  • added a gameplay mechanic for blinking. you have to blink occasionally and will do so periodically, but you can also blink manually with [C] to reset the timer. obviously, this will affect how you engage with monsters like coilheads.
  • you can buy or find batteries to top your charge up. Install them into a held item with [X].
  • you can buy or find dice which might help you out in a pinch.
  • you might receive hindering injuries when you take significant damage (Diversity).
  • many new monsters including an assortment of SCPs and other such horrors.
  • monster corpses can be picked up, brought back to the ship and sold (SellBodiesFixed).
  • maps with weather will have more valuable scrap (WeatherMultipliers).
  • new scrap types.
  • tweaks to existing monster behaviours (Diversity, Mirage, SnatchinBracken).

During bug squashing, LethalLevelLoader and all dependencies have been removed for stability, so there are no new moons or interiors in this pack at present. However, that issue has since been resolved so I'm going to look at adding this back in the future.

Installation notes

  1. Install BasicMods as standalone in a fresh profile to ensure you have all relevant config files.
  2. Once that's done add ContentExpansion to the profile (this should overwrite some configs).
  3. It's usually fine to update any mods with outstanding updates after that, as long as everyone else in the group did the same.

Known issues

  • AlwaysActiveWalkie is kind of glitchy in swapping between radio and in-person voice. I tried playing with the config but I don't think I can fix this. The functionality of the mod is too good to pass up so just deal with it I guess lol.

Troubleshooting

  • If the modpack updates and mods have been removed, your mod manager may not automatically delete them from your profile. You'll probably see mod mismatches if you try to play in multiplayer and you may encounter game breaking bugs. I'd recommend a fresh modpack installation to ensure you don't keep unused mods.
  • It appears that having a large number of custom songs set up for discjockey demands a LOT of extra memory usage. You may experience crashes or slow load times. If affected, reduce the number of songs you put in the custom songs folder.
  • There is a weird interaction between the boombox and (I suspect) the AlwaysHearActiveWalkie mods that has occurred in the past. I think as long as you keep dropped active walkies some distance away from the boombox there will be no issues. Hopefully.
