WarpBack

This mod adds several recovery and utility functions for players in orbit, providing a way to recover from situations such as being stuck inside objects, falling endlessly from the ship, or otherwise becoming unable to return to a safe position.

Features

It allows you to return to the initial ship position, save your current position, warp back to the saved position, and remotely activate the ship's normal teleporter using configurable keys.

All WarpBack functions are available exclusively while the ship is in orbit. WarpBack only operates on the local player. Dead players cannot use WarpBack functions. WarpBack input is intentionally blocked while the terminal or chat is being used.

Initial Position Warp Key

The Warp Key can be configured to return the local player to the initial ship Respawn position.

Pressing the key while in orbit immediately teleports the local player to the first ship Respawn position provided by the vanilla game.

If the ship is currently on a moon, the warp request is ignored and a notification is displayed.

Save Position

The Save Position Key allows you to save your current position and rotation.

Pressing the key while in orbit stores the local player's current position.

The saved position can then be used by the Warp Back function.

The saved position is stored in memory while the game is running and is not written to the configuration file.

A new position replaces the previously saved position.

Saving a position is unavailable while the player is dead.

For example:

  1. Return to orbit.
  2. Move to a desired safe location.
  3. Press F5.
  4. The current position is saved.
  5. If necessary, press F6 later to return to the saved position.

Load Position Warp Key

The Warp Back Key allows you to return to the position saved with the Save Position Key.

If a saved position exists:

  • The player is teleported to the saved position.
  • The saved position is used as the destination.
  • The player's player-state flags are updated to represent being inside the ship.
  • Player blood objects are reset.

If no position has been saved yet, WarpBack automatically falls back to the initial ship position.

Therefore, pressing F6 without first saving a position will return the player to the initial ship Respawn position, provided that the vanilla ship spawn point can be found.

This makes F6 useful as a general recovery key even when no custom recovery position has been saved.

Remote Teleporter

The Remote Teleporter Key allows the local player to remotely activate the normal ship teleporter.

The Remote Teleporter does not bypass the vanilla teleporter's cooldown.

If the teleporter is currently unavailable or on cooldown, the operation is blocked.

This function can be useful when the player needs to use the teleporter without directly interacting with the ship controls.

Config

You can change the settings in the config file. Edit the config if desired. We recommend editing the file using LethalConfig by AinaVT.

Controls

You can optionally set the assignments for the following keys in the config.

Setting Default
Initial Position Warp Key F4
Save Position Key F5
Load Position Warp Key F6
Remote Teleporter Key F7

Notes

  • Saved positions are stored only for the current game session and are not persisted to the configuration file.
  • The mod relies on internal game objects and methods accessed through Harmony patches and existing game components. Future game updates may change these structures, which could cause some features to become inaccurate or stop working until the mod is updated.
  • The behavior of this mod is based on the current implementation of Lethal Company's player, ship, teleportation, HUD, terminal, and monitor systems. Changes to these systems may affect compatibility.
  • Compatibility may be affected if other mods modify the same player teleportation, ship, monitor, or HUD systems.
