This page documents the most common problems and potential fixes that may come up when using YPlayBoombox.

Other players cannot hear the audio

All players need to have the latest version of YPlayBoombox installed and be in the lobby when you enter the URL.

If you are currently playing audio and want a player who just joined to hear it too, you can enter the URL again or use the "/yp history" command. There is also a resync feature to automate this process for the user if they wish, which can be activated by looking at the boombox or cruiser dashboard.

Boombox not reacting to commands

Please check that you do not have conflicting mods that affect the boombox, these may prevent YPlayBoombox from working as intended. You can disable these mods if this happens or you can figure out what mod is causing a conflict by disabling other mods until YPlayBoombox works again.

Boombox stops playing when switching items

For compatibility with mods such as "ReservedItemSlot", you can set "Pocket play" to "true" in the config, this will allow the boombox to keep playing in the inventory when switching items or pressing alt.

Audio downloading fails

• Ensure your firewall is not blocking Lethal Company.
• The server host must be running the mod (unless in offline mode) and you should have the latest/same version of the mod as the server host.
• The YouTube URL must be within the chat character limit, you can right click the YouTube video and click "Copy video URL" which should give you a shorter link. You can also exclude the https://www. at the beginning.
• Try entering the same link again, the audio might download correctly the second time around.

Request timed out
YouTube may block download requests in your country (e.g. Russia). The only workaround for this is using a VPN or connecting to a non-blocked network.

Error downloading request
YPlayBoombox may have trouble saving to directories with non-English characters, there are a few possible fixes for this:

• In Windows go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & region > Administrative language settings > Change system locale... and enable Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support, then restart your PC and try again.
• Move your Lethal Company game directory and Thunderstore/r2 mod manager data folder directory to a path that does not contain non-English characters.
• Use a VPN outside of your country of origin.
• Try the "/yp reset-tools" command, this will redownload FFmpeg and yt-dlp. These executables should be in your DRIVE:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Lethal Company\YPlayBoombox\lib folder, you can also try downloading these manually online and place them in that location (create the folders if they don't exist).

Error downloading or invalid tools

• Try the steps above.

Error messages

• No access/bot: no workaround for this as being signed-in to YouTube is required.
• Age restricted: use an alternative URL.
• Video unavailable: check that the URL is valid and that you have entered it fully.
• Invalid byte sequence: try the steps listed under Error downloading request.

Please try all the above solutions before leaving a message. I cannot test every single modpack, so please make sure to exhaust all other options, and provide as much information as possible when asking for help.
