mom simulator

Exactly what it sounds like. If you see a Maneater, it's your child now. Good luck. Cats are for the crazy cat ladies.

README

The intended use of this modpack is to either

  1. Provide a challenge run for those who despise the maneater
  2. It's a challenge run. A very extreme one.
  3. Enjoy motherhood.

The maneater will be occasionally (subsequently) referred to as "the baby" or "the child".

Iron Mom

RULES:

  1. All standard Iron Man rules apply.
  2. Like a standard Iron Man, run through every single moon one after another. There MUST be an equal number of maneaters to players on the ship during takeoff for that moon to count. The maneater may leave the ship during the interim. Quotas may not be ignored.
  3. If you become aware that there is a maneater on the moon, you may not ignore it unless you already have the number of maneaters equal to players participating. For example, if there are three players and one maneater on the ship, if you hear another maneater, the team must attempt to bring the second maneater back to the ship.
  4. You may not sell the maneater. Disabling the sell feature in BetterBabies config is not required, but is suggested.
  5. You may collect loot even while you do not own the sufficient number of maneaters.
  6. The challenge begins at the first landing of the save file and ends when the quota after Artifice is successfully completed.
  7. NeedyCats must be enabled. You may sell the cats or feed them to the baby.

Optional:

  1. Maneater growth MAY BE REMOVED. If not, DecreasedBabyGrowthMeter in BetterBabies must be at most 0.035 (the default).
  2. Subtitles and Goku bracken are entirely optional. These are remnants of my personal preferences.
  3. Cosmetic chances in BabyManeater may be adjusted. The spawn rate may NOT. It must be at the default value (6).
  4. QoL mods such as ShipLoot, better saves, and performance mods are allowed. Cosmetic mods are also allowed. As long as the rules are followed using the BetterBabies mod, BabyManeater may be removed. Use your discretion and don't try to alter the soul of the IronMom.
  5. You don't have to loot the NeedyCats. They're there for ambience and slight difficulty factor (making noise in the facility).

Recommended:

  1. Remove maneater growth
  2. add your own QoL mods
  3. If there is an insufficient number of maneaters on the ship, spam vow or offense to hunt for maneaters.
  4. I suggest hunting for maneaters as soon as possible. Otherwise, the quotas will increase to the point where the IronMom will become impossible.

I don't know how to explain the rules with concision, so here's some examples of do's and don'ts.

COUNTS

  1. Land on any moon spawning a maneater immediately without a maneater. Collect loot. Sell to quota. This will never finish the run, but is allowed.
  2. Find a maneater and return it safely to the ship. On a later moon, it runs away! You find a new maneater and complete the moon. The run is still valid. The exact same maneater is NOT required to survive throughout the entire run.
  3. The maneater transforms in the ship and stays on during takeoff. At least one person must survive (not MIA) on the ship. This counts because of the rule of cool.
  4. One person is playing. They have a maneater on the ship. They find a second maneater and they ignore it, securing loot and their previous maneater. This counts! You may ignore additional maneaters.

DOESN'T COUNT

  1. Land on a moon that does not spawn maneaters (without the sufficient number of maneaters on the ship).
  2. Land on assurance first, find a maneater, and return with it. This, while allowed, will NOT count towards the list of completed moons, as the moons must be completed IN ORDER.
  3. Go to experimentation, fail to find a maneater. Go to assurance and successfully secure a maneater. BOTH Experimentation and Assurance are NOT counted towards the completed moons.
  4. Four people are playing with three maneaters secured. A person already holding a maneater encounters a new, fourth maneater. This person cannot ignore the fourth maneater. They must attempt to bring back both maneaters. They may receive assistance from teammates.
