Balance Tweaks


Buffs many of the weapons, armor, enchantments, active skills, and passive skills that are considered lacking by the community.

Installation


Information

Here's a list of all the changes that are made. If something isn't mentioned then it is not changed.

Weapons

  • Assassin Set:
    • Instead of inflicting Slow Down it inflicts Cripple (25% buildup).
    • Instead of inflicting Bleeding it inflicts Extreme Bleeding (20% buildup).
  • Beast Golem Weapons:
    • Axe impact increased from 22 to 29.
    • Halberd impact increased from 41 to 46.
  • Butcher's Cleaver: Decay damage increased from 13.7 to 18.7.
  • Cerulean Sabre:
    • Physical damage increased from 33 to 36.
    • Inflicts Pain (35% Buildup).
    • Durability increased from 300 to 450.
  • Chalcedony Set: Deals raw damage instead of frost and the base damage is increased (Idea by Proboina).
  • Djinn's Lantern: Gives an Aura effect for the status resistance, which means that it helps coop players and also other allies such as ghosts.
  • Fishing Harpoon: Reduced the weight from 3 to 2.
  • Great Runic Blade: Increased the ethereal damage from 39 to 43.
  • Lantern of Souls: Gives an Aura effect for the defensive stats (10 elemental resistance except ethereal which gets 20 resistance), which means that it helps coop players and also other allies such as ghosts.
  • Pain in the Axe:
    • Physical damage reduced from 47 to 42.
    • Impact damage reduced from 32 to 28.
    • Stamina cost reduced from 5.6 to 3.5.
    • Attack speed increased from 1.0 to 1.1.
    • Pain Build Up increased from 45% to 100%.
  • Revenant Moon: Increased the Blaze buildup from 33% to 60%.
  • Royal Great-Khopesh
    • Durability increased from 350 to 400.
    • Physical damage increased from 42 to 60.
    • Impact increased from 43 to 55.
  • Pickaxes and harpoons: Durability loss is changed from 5% to a flat 15 durability. Buff is targetting the Mantis Greatpick, Militia Hammer/Spear
  • Pyrite Greathammer:
    • Total damage increased from 41 to 46.
    • Durability increased from 300 to 500.
  • Thorny Weapons: Changed from doing 50% ethereal damage to 75%.
  • Troglodyte Weapons (Legacy)
    • Withering Pole Mace: Increased physical damage from 42 to 50.
    • Withering Trident: Increased physical damage from 39 to 50.

Offhands

  • Smoke shield: Impact damage increased from 20 to 43.
  • Zhorn's Demon Shield:
    • Inflicts Pain on enemies with more than 50% stability, and inflicts Confusion on enemies with 50% or lower stability.
    • Physical damage reduced from 48 to 45.
    • Impact damage reduced from 60 to 55.
  • Virgin Lantern: 5% Fire Damage Bonus.

Armor

  • Ammolite: Blacksmith in Cierzo sells the Padded set making it easier to get.
  • Brigand's set:
    • Hat: +5% Impact Damage.
    • Coat: +10% Impact Damage.
  • Caldera Mail Set:
    • Total Protection decreased from 8 to 5.
    • Total Physical Resistance increased from 43% to 55%.
    • Total Impact Resistance increased from 38% to 43%.
    • Total Frost/Lightning Resistance increased from 28% to 40%.
  • Coralhorn Mask: Now also gets 0.1 mana per second. (Idea inspired by Dotsy)
  • Jade Acolyte Set:
    • Decay resistance increased from 40% to 60%.
    • Corruption resistance decreased from 0% to -30%.
  • Plate Set: Impact resistance increased from 37% to 44%. (Idea inspired by LimboWormLive)

Backpacks

  • Glowstone backpack: 10% mana cost reduction.
  • Chalcedony backpack: (Idea by Proboina but think it needed to have lower capacity and remain acquired in the vanila way).
    • Capacity reduced from 80 to 60.
    • Gives frost resistance of 10.
    • Rolling is no longer impeded.

Enchantments

  • Contagion: Status buildup is increased from 20% to 45%.
  • Etherwave: Status buildup is increased from 20% to 35%.
  • Desert's Sun: Fire damage increased from 35% to 50%.
  • Favorable Winds: Now also adds 10 impact damage. (Idea by Dotsy)
  • Filter:
    • Body Armor: Corruption Resistance increased from 10% to 20%.
    • Helmet/Boots: Corruption Resistance increased from 5% to 10%.
  • Foggy Memories: Ethereal damage increased from 33% to 50%.
  • Forbidden Knowledge: Now also inflicts curse with Runic explosions spells.
    • Runic Trap inflicts Curse (35% buildup).
    • Runic Detonation inflicts Curse (100% buildup).
  • Freedom:
    • Now also gets +3% movement speed bonus.
    • Slow Down, Crippled, Hampered has it's status buildup resistance increased from 50% to 100%.
  • Inferno: Status buildup is increased from 25% to 45%.
  • Lantern enchantments (Angel Light, Blaze Blue, Copper Flame, Sanguine Flame): Gets 10% damage bonus to the respective elements.
  • Rot: Decay damage increased from 40% to 50%.
  • Storm: Lightning damage increased from 40% to 50%.
  • Telekinesis:
    • Increases the effect from 6s to 10s.
    • Has VFX.
  • The Good Moon: Now also grants +18 bonus damage of the element of the imbue.
  • Twang: Lightning damage added to the weapon is increased from 10 to 18.
  • Winter's Cruelty: Frost damage increased from 40% to 50%.

Active Skills

  • Call to Elements: Now also gives...
    • The status effect 'Call of Elements' which shows a VFX representing the boon you would get if you cast Call to Elements in an area. The vfx is activated whenever entering a new area. The effect lasts 900 seconds.
    • If you already have the boon active, then the Call to Elements skill will amplify the boon.
  • Conjure: Buffed the summoned ghost late-game, and a slight nerf early-game.
    • Base HP is reduced from 110 to 90.
    • For every totem activated the ghosts:
      • Gain +20 second longer duration (max. 400 seconds).
      • Gain +10 HP (max. 150 HP).
    • If you have all the Wind Totems activated you gain the ability to summon an ADDITIONAL ghost.
  • Feral Strikes: Instead of removing the rage boon, it reduces the rage boon duration by 2 minutes.
  • Flamethrower: More damage for certain elements and some status effects are changed to make it more powerful.
    • Decay (Sanguine Flame)
      • Damage increased from 2.75 to 6.75 (up to 162 decay damage).
      • Impact increased from 2.65 to 3.65 (up to 87.6 impact damage).
    • Ethereal (Lantern of Souls)
      • Damage increased from 1.375 to 3.75 (up to 90 ethereal damage).
      • Impact increased from 2.65 to 3.65 (up to 87.6 impact damage).
    • Frost (Ice-Flame Torch/Blaze Blue)
      • Damage increased from 2.75 to 3.75 (up to 90 frost damage).
      • Impact increased from 2.65 to 3.65 (up to 87.6 impact damage).
      • Inflicts Cripple instead of Slow Down.
    • Lightning (Coil Lantern/Angel Light)
      • Damage increased from 3.16 to 4.75 (up to 114 lightning damage).
      • Impact increased from 2.65 to 5.65 (up to 135 impact damage).
      • Inflicts Doom instead of Sapped.
  • Gong Strike: Now also has a DoT that deals mostly impact damage to the target every second.
  • Melee Weapon Infusion skills:
    • Infuse Fire: Does not consume the boon if it is amplified.
    • Infuse Frost: Does not consume the boon if it is amplified.
    • Infuse Light: Does not consume the boon if it is amplified.
  • Piercing shot:
    • Lower the cooldown from 30 to 15 seconds.
    • Stamina cost reduced from 15 to 10.
    • Increase projectile radius from 0.2 to 0.5.
  • Reverberation:
    • Resets the cooldown of the skills Haunting Beat/Welking Ring when picking up the associated totem with reverberation.
    • Cooldown increased from 10 to 40 seconds.
  • Simeon's Gambit:
    • Inflicts Pains on the enemy if the counter is successful.
    • Reduce the cooldown from 120 to 60 seconds. (Idea by TheVillageIdiot9).
  • Scalp Collector: Easier to get the on kill effect.
    • Increased the skill damage multiplier from 1.2x to 2.0x.
  • Viscious Cycle:
    • Change the durability cost from 10% to 10 (flat) durability.
    • Cooldown reduced from 120 to 40 seconds.

Passive Skills

  • Anticipation: Doesn't lose alertness levels on being hit (Idea by Guillaume).
  • Cruelty: Now is also able to inflict statuses on enemies with status immunity against DoTs, however at a decreased build up rate (halved buildup).
  • Exalted:
    • Dying with life drain will not send your character to the Inbetween.
    • At life drain stage 3 you will get the 'On Your Last Legs' status when having more than 25% burnt health.
    • Dying with the 'On your last legs' status effect will send your character to the Inbetween. However, there is a grace period of 5 seconds between getting the status and it actually being able to send your character to the Inbetween which is supposed to stop the game feeling cheesy.
    • Healing the burnt health will start the curing process and after 4 minutes the 'On Your Last Leg' status will be healed and your character is safe again.
    • Additional Effects of 'On Your Last Legs':
      • Lose 2 health per minute.
      • Reduces stamina recovery rate by -100%.
      • Movement speed -30%.

Compatibility

This mod is not compatible with other mods that alter vanilla items, skills, or enchantments, such as Class Fixes and Weapon Balance Patch. If you’re looking for a broader, more comprehensive overhaul, I recommend trying those mods instead, as they keep gameplay feeling fresh throughout an entire playthrough. This mod, by contrast, focuses only on adjusting individual items that are not typically taken into consideration leaving the overpowered or enjoyed items untouched.

The pickaxe and harpoon gathering durability loss in this mod is not normally compatible with VheosModPack, which is why there is a toggle that enables both to be run at the same time. Check for the VheosCompatibility toggle in the F5 menu.

Patch notes

  • 0.9.1: Pre-release. All big changes are addressed, and small tweaks are done to existing changes.

    • New changes to the following items: Cerulean Sabre, Pyrite Greathammer, Smoke Shield, Zhorn's Demon Shield, Virgin Lantern.
    • New changes to the following enchantments: Inferno, Etherwave and Contagion, The Good Moon, Angel Light, Copper Flame, Sanguine Flame, Blaze Blue, Forbidden Knowledge.
    • New changes to the following Active Skills: Simeon's Gambit, Conjure.
    • Exalted is adjusted to have more drawbacks.
    • Padded set can be gotten from the blacksmith in Cierzo making Ammolite more consistent to aquire.
