PEAK Auto Grab Climb

Created by TaXueXuex | Version 1.0.4 | September 13, 2026

Automatically performs the grab-release-regrab climbing technique with keyboard/mouse or native gamepad controls. Suitable walls use automatic grab-release; unsuitable overhangs fall back to normal climbing. The mod checks the surface during the climb and can resume automation when the wall becomes suitable again.

No persistent HUD, no tuning hotkeys, and no direct changes to stamina values, movement-force multipliers or cooldowns.

Installation

Thunderstore / mod manager

Install AutoGrabClimb and its BepInEx dependency, then launch PEAK through your mod manager's modded launch option.

Manual installation

Install BepInEx 5 for PEAK first. Close the game before replacing files.

  • Manual package: extract its BepInEx folder into the PEAK game directory and allow the folders to merge.
  • Thunderstore ZIP downloaded manually: place its AutoGrabClimb.dll inside BepInEx/plugins/AutoGrabClimb/.

The installed file should be:

PEAK/BepInEx/plugins/AutoGrabClimb/AutoGrabClimb.dll

When upgrading, keep only one AutoGrabClimb.dll anywhere under BepInEx/plugins. Keep backups outside the plugins directory. BepInEx and PEAK game assemblies are not included in these ZIPs.

Enable or disable

The mod starts OFF every game session.

  • Keyboard: press F10. F7 belongs to older versions.
  • Gamepad: stand on the ground, center both sticks, then hold both stick-click buttons for one second (LS + RS / L3 + R3). Release before toggling again.

The gamepad toggle does not work while climbing, on ropes/vines, or passed out. Original stick-click actions are not blocked, so this gesture may also crouch your character depending on bindings. Toggle before climbing and check your stance. F10 remains an alternative.

A brief English ON/OFF notification appears. There is no persistent HUD.

Keyboard and mouse

  1. Enable the mod with F10.
  2. Hold Shift before grabbing the wall and keep it held.
  3. Hold W + Left Mouse Button to perform automatic grab-release climbing.
  4. Release a required control to stop automation.

Gamepad

  1. Enable the mod.
  2. Start moving forward, then press and hold your Sprint button before grabbing the wall.
  3. Keep Sprint held, push forward, and hold your Grab / Use Primary button.
  4. Release Sprint or Grab, or bring the movement stick back toward center, to stop automation.

On the tested Xbox native layout, Sprint is LT and Grab is RT: forward, then hold LT, then hold RT. Game action bindings are used, so other layouts use their corresponding buttons rather than fixed LT/RT controls.

Even if the game calls the action Sprint Toggle, physically keep the button held. Tapping once to latch running is not sufficient. Avoid releasing and pressing Sprint again while hanging: PEAK may trigger its original stamina-consuming climb action.

Forward input has a start/stop threshold to reduce accidental toggling from stick jitter. During automation, forward input is standardized for consistent climbing.

Compatibility and tested status

  • Keyboard/mouse and an Xbox controller using PEAK's native support were tested on the same wall with comparable climbing height.
  • Other controllers follow PEAK's gamepad bindings, but have not been individually tested. The controller must already work with PEAK; this mod does not add device drivers.
  • The stick-click toggle requires a controller recognized as a Unity Gamepad. Use F10 if that gesture is unavailable.
  • Steam Input is not required for the tested Xbox setup. Keyboard-emulation layouts and other Steam Input configurations have not been verified.
  • This is a local input-automation mod; other players do not need it installed.

Known limitations

  • Fast horizontal grab taps are left to the original game. Slower or longer horizontal presses may enter automation and occasionally consume extra stamina.
  • Short initial presses remain vanilla; automation begins after a continuous hold and confirmed wall catch.
  • Overhang fallback is intentional. Ending automation restores original game handling; it does not necessarily force a native gamepad toggle-grab to let go.
  • Automation is disabled while holding an item, rope/vine climbing, passed out, or using the emote/backpack wheel.
  • Terrain, launch method and camera direction affect results. Identical stamina efficiency across devices or all walls is not guaranteed.
  • Future PEAK updates may require compatibility changes.

Troubleshooting

Confirm BepInEx loads, keep only one plugin DLL, and enable with F10 first to separate toggle issues from climbing issues. Check the startup log contains Auto Grab Climb 1.0.4 loaded.

For a report, include BepInEx/LogOutput.log, controller model, bindings, Steam Input setting, and a video if possible. Normal climbing diagnostics are disabled in this release; startup, mode changes and runtime errors are still logged.
