Features
- One dropdown. Options > Font opens a list with every font written in itself, so you see it before you pick. Works with mouse, keyboard and controller.
- Five weights. Options > Font Weight goes from 1 Light to 5 Bold, so a font can be made easier to read or given more punch. It works with mouse, keyboard and controller, and the font list previews each font at the chosen weight.
- Everything changes. The game's text and text from other mods, including PeglinKeybinds' Controls screen. Outlines, shadows and colours are kept.
- Sized to match. Each font is scaled so its capital letters stand as tall as the game's, so text still fits its boxes.
- Every language. Letters a font doesn't have, such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean, are drawn in the game's font, so nothing turns into boxes.
- Remembered. Your choice is saved and applied every time you start the game. Pick Peglin (default) to put everything back exactly as it was.
- One key each. Press F9 anywhere (menus, battles, the map) to switch to the next font; its name pops up at the top of the screen, written in itself. Press F8 to step through the weights the same way. Add a controller button for the font key, or change either key, in the config file (or in PeglinKeybinds' Controls screen, when that mod is installed).
Installation
With a mod manager (recommended): install PeglinFonts from Thunderstore with r2modman or the Thunderstore Mod Manager. BepInEx is installed for you.
Manually: install BepInExPack_Peglin, then put
PeglinFonts.dll in Peglin/BepInEx/plugins/. The fonts are inside the DLL.
Built for Peglin v2.0.12. Works alongside my other mods: PeglinKeybinds (coming soon; the Font row sits under its Controls row, and without it Font is at the top of Options), PeglinBalatroScore, PeglinRelicRerolls, PeglinQuickRestart and PeglinMaxSpeed.
Settings
In BepInEx/config/PeglinFonts.cfg (start the game once to create it, and edit it while the game is closed):
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Font |
default | The font: default, opendyslexic, atkinson, lato, ptserif, comicneue, patrickhand, permanentmarker, bangers, vt323, creepster, specialelite, luckiestguy or bungee |
FontWeight |
3 | How thick or thin to draw the chosen font: 1 (Light) to 5 (Bold). 3 is Normal. Has no effect on Peglin's own font |
CycleFontKey |
F9 | Switches to the next font, at any time. None turns it off |
CycleWeightKey |
F8 | Switches to the next font weight, at any time. None turns it off |
ControllerCycleFontButton |
None | The same from a controller. Unset by default, as Peglin and my other mods already use every button |
Good to know
- Font Weight is shown as N/A while Peglin (default) is selected: the game's fonts are pixel fonts, and making them thicker or thinner blurs their edges.
- OpenDyslexic is deliberately wide, so it is tightened slightly to fit the game's narrow labels and tooltip rows.
- Some mods draw text with Unity's older UI text or IMGUI windows (config windows, for example). Those can only use fonts installed on your computer, so they get the chosen font if you have it installed, or else a similar one that comes with Windows (Comic Sans MS for Comic Neue, Georgia for PT Serif, and so on). They use bold at weights 4 and 5, since they have no finer weight control.
- Outlined or shadowed text can look a touch thinner or thicker in some fonts than in the original.
Licences
The mod is MIT licensed. The fonts keep their own licences: SIL Open Font License 1.1, or Apache 2.0 for Permanent
Marker (Font Diner), Special Elite and Luckiest Guy (Astigmatic). The licence texts are in the licenses folder that
comes with the mod.
