Repo Utility Drones — 0.1.2 BETA

Three new physical shop drone kits for R.E.P.O. Buy them, carry them in the normal inventory, and use the game's normal item-use control. No extra screen-text HUD.

This is a test-play beta, not a fully multiplayer-verified release. Use a separate mod-manager profile and a test run/save. The host and every player must install this mod and REPOLib before joining. Unmodded guests are not supported.

Updating from 0.1.0 / 0.1.1: update every player to 0.1.2 and replace the old mod rather than keeping both DLLs installed. Existing config keys, shop-item IDs and per-save Link pairing IDs are unchanged; deleting configs or saves is not required. Existing Link distance settings are preserved; to try the new-install range, set Link / MaximumDistance to 6 in the host's config.

Link Drone — an A + B kit

Buying Link Drone Set (A + B) grants both halves. B is not a second paid shop item: both owned drones are delivered by the game's normal truck item system.

Attach A and B to two different carts, valuables, weapons, tools, other grabbable physical objects or living enemies with native physical bodies. When within connection range, the cable automatically fits the current gap instead of leaving the old fixed 3.5m of slack. Try:

  • C.A.R.T. + Pocket Cart
  • C.A.R.T. + a large valuable
  • Valuable + valuable
  • C.A.R.T. + C.A.R.T.
  • Cart + weapon/tool, or weapon + tool
  • Three carts in a train using two separate sets
  • Enemy + cart/heavy cargo, or two physical enemies pulling against each other

Grab one linked cargo object to tow: the cable slowly reels toward a compact 1.25m length at up to 0.75m/s. It pauses when blocked/overstretched, when both ends are grabbed or when either end is an enemy; unheld cargo is not reeled together on its own. Release your grab to stop reeling. Turn one drone off and reattach it to refit a longer cable. Cable length is measured between attachment points, not object centres.

The new-install connection range is 6 metres, configurable from 1–12m. Existing 3.5m settings stay 3.5m unless the host changes them. Targets initially farther apart wait for you to bring them within range; they are not teleported together. A solid pair-colored cable indicates an engaged connection; a faint amber cable is waiting. Red warns of strain or a safety release. Sudden external teleports or prolonged excessive stretch release the constraint; turn either half off/on to recover rather than letting it repeatedly yank objects.

Enemies tug back. The link is a physical tether, not a guaranteed enemy immobilizer, stun, pacification or AI disable. Light cargo may be dragged by a strong enemy. Each enemy-attached half uses extra battery (1–2 percentage points per second according to body mass/tier) while the tether is engaged. No automatic enemy reeling. Non-physical enemies, players, player bodies/heads, equipped inventory items and drones are not Link targets. A short native Huntsman test keeps its real brain, navigation and body following active; every pursuit/attack state, unusual enemy rigs and enemy-mod combinations remain beta playtest targets.

Different kits keep independent saved pairing tokens, and their world-space colored lines identify the links. Turning either half off, storing it in inventory, losing power, enemy despawn or destroying a target releases the link. Losing one half does not silently pair its survivor with a different kit.

Targets retain their normal weight and gravity. The host creates the physical constraint; guests do not create competing joints. Linked bodies temporarily receive extra solver iterations for stability, restored on release.

Ghost Drone — pass-through cargo and extraction hold

Attach it to a valuable to let players pass through that valuable. The valuable remains grabbable, keeps its normal size, and still collides with floors, walls, carts and other cargo. It is not an invincibility, shrink or repair drone: weight, actual price and durability stay normal.

It also temporarily excludes that one valuable from extraction counting and suction. Other valuables can still be extracted. Switch the drone off or remove it to restore normal extraction at the valuable's current actual price. The mod does not overwrite the price with zero or globally replace the extraction rules.

If someone is still inside the valuable when its drone switches off or loses power, collision with that person remains disabled until they move outside. Nobody is teleported or forcibly pushed out. Do not rely on a ghosted valuable as a platform: it is also excluded from the local player's ground/riding detection while phased.

Silencer Drone — quieter objects, players and enemies

Attach it to a valuable, item/weapon, cart, player or living enemy. It reduces that target's emitted audio and the enemy investigation radius produced by that noise. By default, the multiplier is 0.08 (8%). Valuable-specific music/sound effects and persistent loops are included, not just collision/clatter/scraping.

  • Player: body sounds, footsteps and in-game voice/TTS become quieter. Their hearing of other players and the world is unchanged. A carried weapon keeps its own sound identity: attach another Silencer to the weapon to suppress its noise too.
  • Weapon/item: its own sounds and emitted investigation events become quieter; firing, damage, recoil and battery use remain normal.
  • Enemy: its own footsteps, calls and attack sounds become quieter. The enemy can still hear normally: this is not a deafening or AI-disable ability, and a silenced enemy can become harder for your team to notice.

Damage, value loss, mass and durability still behave normally. Listeners, global audio mixers and unrelated nearby sources are not muted. Enemies may still detect very close noises, see or touch you, or continue an existing chase. Discord and other external voice applications are not affected. Independent third-party sound systems are not guaranteed to inherit native sound ownership.

Native controlled tests cover special valuables, a real gun, a player and a Huntsman. Voice/TTS volume restoration is checked using synthetic playback AudioSources, not real remote voice packets. Multiplayer voice, player tumble attachment and all enemy-specific audio remain playtest targets.

Settings and multiplayer

The generated config is BepInEx/config/com.matsu.repoutilitydrones.cfg:

  • Link / MaximumDistance: host's connection range and cable upper bound, 1–12m; new-install default 6m. Existing settings are preserved. Actual cable length auto-fits the gap and can reel shorter.
  • Silencer / NoiseMultiplier: host's emitted sound/in-game voice/investigation-radius multiplier, 0.01–0.35; default 0.08. It does not alter the attached target's hearing.

Host settings and effect targets are synchronized. Client-only config values do not define gameplay. Join together from the lobby for beta testing. Real late join, host migration, unusual player/cargo colliders and larger modded lobbies remain test targets, not certified compatibility.

The automatic two-process multiplayer attempt was blocked by the connection service's simultaneous-master-connection limit. Do not read the singleplayer verification as a successful two-account multiplayer test. Please report host/guest differences, especially tether visibility, Ghost collision restoration, Silencer noise and A/B delivery.

Beta feedback

Use the REPO Mods – Bug Reports & Requests survey. Write Repo Utility Drones BETA 0.1.2 in the details if it is not yet listed in the mod selector.

Include the game/mod versions, host or guest, other mods, steps to reproduce, and BepInEx/LogOutput.log. Say which drone and target were involved. A second Link half that is simply hidden on the shop shelves is intentional; a bought set missing its partner in the next truck is a bug.

Credits

Uses the game's native drone models, controls, inventory, batteries and sounds at runtime, integrated through REPOLib by Zehs. No original game model bundle is redistributed. The cover depicts actual in-game drone renders, laid out with code; it is not an AI-generated depiction of different models.

  • Link Drone:A/B
  • Ghost Drone:
