Glacial Perforator

A yellow ice Perforator and its own rare Glacial Worm boss.

Item

10% chance on hit to erupt ice shards after 0.35 seconds, dealing 600% (+600% per stack) TOTAL damage in a 6-meter radius and slowing enemies by 80% for 3 seconds.

  • Proc chance scales with the triggering attack's proc coefficient and uses the attacker's luck.
  • Damage scales with the triggering hit, with critical strikes preserved separately.
  • The eruption has a 0.7 proc coefficient. It can trigger other items; its own proc-chain marker prevents recursive Glacial Perforator chains.
  • Killing the original enemy still leaves an eruption at the hit position. The short warning marks a fixed location, so fast enemies can move out of it.
  • Extra stacks increase damage, not the chance, radius, delay, or slow duration.
  • Appears in yellow Artifact of Command selection and the boss-item catalog.

Original Perforator appearance

Uses the exact native Charged Perforator mesh, UVs, icon silhouette, and display placements, with white highlights, pale cyan shadows, and icy emission. The icon preserves the original yellow boss-rarity outline. The pickup, logbook model, icon, and supported survivor-worn displays share the recolor. Existing Molten and Charged Perforator assets are not modified. Native meshes/textures are loaded from the installed game, not embedded in this DLL.

The mod-manager preview uses the same yellow-bordered item icon shown in the logbook.

CHEF recipe

At Wandering CHEF, combine 1 Runald's Band + 1 AtG Missile Mk. 1 to create 1 Glacial Perforator. Either ingredient order works. This uses the game's normal crafting system, including CHEF encounters provided by ChefBazaar. The recipe also appears in the item logbook's recipe information. No additional mod dependency is needed; access to CHEF follows the game's normal availability requirements.

Glacial Worm

Glacial Worm — The Buried Winter inherits the Overloading Worm's health, damage, movement, director cost, and stage/loop eligibility. It is added beside Overloading Worm in compatible normal monster pools at the same selection weight. This does not guarantee an encounter or increase the director's budget.

Its surface attacks show a 0.9-second frost warning, then burst over 13 meters, dealing 300% base damage and slowing survivors for 3 seconds. Native fire/lightning meatballs are disabled; body contact retains damage and applies the game's native on-hit slow. Its body uses a brighter frost palette with blue-gray shadowed plates, snowy white highlights, and pale cyan emission. Its portrait and burrow effects also receive an icy recolor. It is a dedicated boss variant and does not require Her Biting Embrace to spawn.

The worm's boss reward is Glacial Perforator. Teleporter rewards use the normal boss-item chance, and Trophy Hunter's Tricorn uses the same dedicated drop table. Ordinary kills do not guarantee an item. In mixed boss encounters, normal boss-reward selection applies. The original worms keep their original rewards.

Install

Import GlacialPerforator-0.1.3.zip using r2modman's Settings > Profile > Import local mod, or place the DLL under the intended profile's BepInEx/plugins/GlacialPerforator/ with the listed dependencies installed. Avoid installing a second copy if Local-GlacialPerforator is already present. Restart the game after installation.

All multiplayer participants need this mod and the same version. Damage and spawning are server controlled; visual effects use the native network effect system.

Config: BepInEx/config/wreckzog.glacialperforator.cfg.

  • Worm.EnableNaturalSpawns: disable to remove natural Glacial Worm encounters while retaining the item. Restart required.
  • Debug.LogActivations: log item procs and worm surface bursts for testing.

Validation and remaining checks

Compiled against the installed Risk of Rain 2 build with warnings treated as errors. Forty-seven assertions exercise the production combat handler, delayed eruption, and drop table. An isolated launch of the actual game verifies content registration, exact native mesh identity, icy materials, the worm's unique reward, and spawn-pool eligibility and duplicate prevention. The item was rendered in the game engine and visually reviewed. Startup registers 24 native worn-display rule sets.

The 0.1.3 game test validates both ingredient orders, rejection of incomplete and incorrect pairs, and recipe search indexes. The native logbook builder includes the worm with its separate unlock and complete entry; its standalone icy model and the exported package icon were visually checked.

The user confirmed the boss encounter and force-spawn command work. The worm now has its own monster log, unlocked by collecting its normal boss log drop (3% base chance, subject to native luck and eligibility). Its logbook entry includes an icy model and portrait, stats, and original lore. Its native movement, sounds, and death animation are retained. Live CHEF interaction and remote multiplayer remain unverified; no void conversion is added.

Created with Codex / ChatGPT. Native game assets are referenced at runtime. This package has not been published to Thunderstore.

Force-spawn test (0.1.1)

Start a run as the host, then press Left Ctrl + Left Alt + backtick (the key below Escape) to open the developer console. Enter glacial_spawn to summon one hostile Glacial Worm about 35 meters ahead. Face open terrain first. No sv_cheats setting or additional console mod is needed. Repeat the command to spawn another worm.

Requires a living player in an active hosted run; clients cannot invoke it. This creates an ordinary enemy, not a teleporter boss encounter, so killing it does not guarantee a yellow item. Use Trophy Hunter's Tricorn to test its dedicated boss reward.
