MatchSeed
Reproducible matches: a seed locks hole order, wind, item layout, item rolls, tees and hazards so a match can be replayed exactly.MatchSeed
Replay a match exactly. Every match gets a seed; enter the same seed again and the host's random decisions repeat.
Who needs it
Only the host needs the mod
Setting a seed
Use the game's console via the ` key.
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
matchSeed |
Show the active seed and the one the next match will use |
matchSeed A3F09C12 |
Use this exact seed for the next match |
matchSeed speedrun1 |
Any other word is hashed into a seed (case-insensitive) |
matchSeed random |
Go back to a new random seed every match |
A seed you set stays until you run matchSeed random, so back-to-back attempts reuse it.
Prefer not to use the console at all? Put the seed in the config file instead.
The active seed is drawn in the top-left corner of the host's screen during a match, and "Next seed" is shown there while in the lobby. To replay someone's match, enter the same seed.
Config (com.sbg.matchseed.cfg)
| Key | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
Seed |
blank | Seed for the next match. Blank means a new random seed each match. The matchSeed command overrides this until you run matchSeed random |
ShowSeedOnHud |
true | Draw the seed in the corner of the host's screen |
LogRolls |
false | Write every seeded draw to the BepInEx log so two runs can be compared |
With LogRolls on, look for the wind, item and layout seed lines in BepInEx/LogOutput.log (in
your mod manager profile's folder). Two runs of one seed should print the same lines.
What is reproduced
Confirmed identical across repeated runs of one seed: the random hole order, wind, and item rolls.
Also seeded, but not yet confirmed in play: item-box and pond layout, who wins a contested item box, tee spots and team splits at match start, respawn offsets, breakable ice, freeze-bomb platforms, thunderstorms and traffic.
What is not reproduced
- Overcharge side-spin and weapon spread are rolled on each player's own PC, so the host cannot seed them.
- Which item you get also depends on position. The item pool is chosen by how far behind the leader you are. The same seed with the same play gives the same item, but if you're closer or further behind it will be different.
- Tee order depends on who is in the lobby and the order they joined.
- Traffic prewarm timing, and the rare knockback direction when hit straight up or down.
A seed only covers randomness. The rules (wind setting, item weights) and number of players are not part of it.
