Description

TL;DR

  • Replaces Core Clusters with Infinite Unlocks
  • Increases cost of PT Victor's final tier.

Justification

Mini disclaimer: Techtonica is an incredible game and is very friendly to newcomers to the genre. The following justification is not a criticism of the game.

In each of my playthroughs of Techtonica, I have been able to finish all Production Terminal tiers and story content with only a starter factory built that automates basic parts, which leaves me feeling a little disatisfied. This mod will change the end game so that you will need to utilise all machines and their Mk2 variants to automate the top tier items. You will no longer be able to setup just one assembler that you manually fill to get those 20 Relay Circuits.

This mod is for players that need an objective in order to continue playing or just want a more challenging end game. This mod gives players a reason to chase a high rate of core production.

Changes

  • Core Clustering Has Been Replaced With Infinite Unlocks

    • Core Clustering facilitates laziness. I know this because I am lazy. Instead of building a good facory that produces all the items it needs in a balanced way, a player can build a small and input starved factory and wait for Core Clustering to fix it. With this mod, once you unlock all the Techs that boost various machine's speed, their production rates will not change again. You can no longer get away with being lazy.
    • To replace core clustering, infinte unlocks have been added. Each time you purchase one, it will auto-unlock and its price will increase. Currently, these infinite unlocks have been added:
      • Miner Speed
      • Ore Consumption
      • Fuel efficiency
      • Power usage
      • Inventory size
      • Walk speed
      • MOLE speed
    • To account for the lack of Core Clusters and the high core costs for these infinite unlocks, this mod depends on VirtualCores, More Planters and Atlantum Reactor. It's impossible to pay these costs without VirtualCores.
  • PT Victor's Final Tier Cost Has Been Massively Increased

    • Currently, you can unlock this tier by placing down a few assemblers and manually feeding them. With this mod, you cannot hope to unlock it unless you fully automate the high tier items like Electric Motors and Relay Circuits. To further encourage you to automate these parts, new recipes for both Purple and Blue cores have been added.
    • You will not be able to access the last bit of story that the game currently has to offer until you purchase this tier. (Upcoming Feature)

The table below shows how much an unlock will cost at a given level, and what percentage boost will be applied. Note, Level 1 Ore Consumption should say 90.
