Ocean Disturbance
Repeated fishing activity in the Ocean angers the sea.
Disturbance stages:
- Calm
- Restless
- Dangerous
- Severe
- Catastrophic
Ocean fishing can add disturbance from valid bites, hooking treasure, recovering treasure, and slaying Sea Serpents.
At higher stages, treasure tier odds improve and Sea Serpents may be attracted on eligible Ocean bites.
Treasure Tiers
Driftwood Crate
Common treasure with lighter rewards.
Waterlogged Barrel
Mid-tier treasure with stronger rewards and a harder fight.
Sunken Chest
Rare treasure with the highest reward potential and the strongest fight.
Biome Loot
Treasure loot changes based on the biome where the fishing bobber is located.
Supported biome tables include Meadows, Black Forest, Swamp, Mountain, Plains, Mistlands, Ashlands, and Ocean.
Unknown or modded biomes fall back to the Ocean loot table without automatically receiving Ocean disturbance behavior.
Progression
Advanced ore and scrap rewards can be gated behind Valheim boss progression.
Ore rewards can also be disabled or adjusted through the BepInEx configuration.
Multiplayer
Sunken Spoils uses a personal risk/reward model:
- Each player builds their own Ocean Disturbance
- Treasure reward scaling is personal
- Serpent attraction chances and personal caps are personal
- Severe/Catastrophic Ocean weather is shared through the world state
Physical Sea Serpents are normal world creatures and can be seen and fought by other players.
